I went here for my dad's, get this.....50 YEAR high school reunion. The most memorable bar experience I've ever had. Fried macaroni and cheese nuggets and hot dogs make up the grill. Â Bud and Coors make up the bar. That's it. Years before it was something different. My dad said back then, there weren't even names for streets, you just knew where everything was. Â People have lived in this town for years, and their family before them for years. Some of the friendliest people I've met came here which is the real reason to come. Lots of WWII stories, farming stories, and small town gossip. If you come in here twice, expect people to consider you a regular and call you by your first name. In a town of about 800, it's just a really big family instead of a population.
Schleswig is one of those towns you only read about if you've grown up near the coast. I was lucky enough to experience it for a few days.
Correction: I do remember taking shots at the bar. They have whiskey.
