While our party of five was waiting for our dinner to arrive we looked around at all the empty tables that weren't being bussed. Within our view there were at least 4 tables that hadn't been bussed! It seemed like they only cleaned a table when it was needed. We waited over 40 minutes for our dinner to arrive and when it did come they brought the wrong order. After taking it back our waiter returned a short time later with the correct order of 3 burgers, one rib-eye steak and a rack of ribs. Immediately we realized the food wasn't hot. Not just "not hot" but actually not even "barely warm". It was so cold you could tell it hadn't even been sitting under the heat lamp. When our server returned, we all explained how cold everything was. He immediately said he'd tell the manager and sure enough the manager showed up within a minute. He apologized and offered us hot fries and a free dessert. We said yes to the fries and no to the dessert.
The biggest minuses were the cold food, having to look at unbussed tables all around us, and how long it took to receive our order. The plus side was even though the burgers were cold, my daughter & I still liked our bacon cheeseburger. The manager took off half the price of our bill, but I would have much preferred a hot meal.
Disappointing.
Many menu items pretty much replaced with lame pizza options.
Can you believe that? Pizza instead of the unique Chilis fare?
We've stayed next door at the Hampton several times and gave this Chili's a good shot.
They were out of most the popular label booze. WTF?
We can't figure out if this Chili's location offers lousy food because they are well aware their customers are visiting out of town travelers, or Chilis management wants to be like that awful, failing Applebees.
Sandwitches were soggy, french frys were cold and pre-frozen,, dreadful.
We know better, the food at this location sucks, and pretty much Chili's entire chain.
Chilis just doesn't give a damn anymore.
In all sincerity consider yourself seriously warned,, avoid this Chili's.
I give two stars since the ordering online process was easy, when I called in they were friendly and helpful. I'd give it no stars for food. I ordered chicken fajitas. The food was not hot nor even warm. Chicken looked like a grilled chicken breast cooked, chilled, sliced, and placed on a salad. Peppers were raw tossed in seasoning and oil. Onions were grilled and chilled. The corn tortillas were what they use for hard tacos. Too thick and starchy.
Worst fajitas of my life. Literally. Wow!
On my way to Vegas decided to stop by to watch the Mexico soccer game and grab something to eat. Â Staff was so friendly and did the impossible to find the soccer game we really wanted to see ;)
I would sooooo stop here next time I'm in this area.
A big shout out to the Mngr. and the bartender!!!!
Service here was legit terrible. We stood around waiting for the host/ess to seat us for a solid 5 minute. Nobody seemed interested in us. So, against my better judgement, we just picked a spot and sat down. Our server wasn't much more attentive than the non-existent hostess.
Despite all of this, the food was standard Chili's fare, which is acceptable at best. But it hit the spot on our way to Vegas.
Next time I'm passing through, I'll stop somewhere else.
I recently moved to the high desert from central Texas and this being the closest sit down non-fast food type restaurant to ft Irwin I went in not expecting a lot, and left surprised. This was probably the best Chilis meal I have ever had. I had a new fajita dish and I actually ate the whole thing which is not like me...I never finish a meal in a restaurant...even my husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak quesadilla...good job Chilis! We will be back for sure!
Review Source:This place was a joke. Our hotel was right in front of this venue and me, being the lazy-ass I am, decided to just eat here (my biggest sin: knowing that Chipotle was a 5 minute drive).
While the interior is surprisingly clean and somewhat accommodating, the food was overpriced, over-salted, and barely edible. The choose-2-for-$16.95 is a complete waste of money - the portions of the meats are so stingy.
Avoid here like a plague, even if it's close to the hotel. There's In N Out & Chipotle nearby.
I warned you.
Chili's is probably not the best place in town to eat... when you're in a big city. But if you find yourself on highway 15 and need a reliable fix, Chili's! Thank you for being right there by the Barstow outlets!
Got the veggie tacos and some dry-rub baby back ribs. Do come here for the baby back ribs if nothing else. Prices are very reasonable. More options than your usual fast food run when you're on your way to Vegas.
apparently chili's is the nicest restaurant in town. i'm not one for chains, especially on vacation, but it was either this or the sizzler. we decided not to risk it.
and whaddiya know, it was a great dining experience! we did the $20 for an appetizer and 2 entrees, which is a ridiculously good deal for the amount and quality of food we got. our eyes being ever larger than our stomachs, we also ordered a salad.
appetizers:
the corn in the guac added some flavor you don't usually get. a nice twist on a simple dish that i eat often.
the salsa was pureed- not really my thing, but it was good.
the chips were greasy n kinda gross. we ate our leftover dips the next day with some wavy lays we had in the car.
cobb salad: a breath of fresh air after all the junk we'd been eating. mmmm...i want one now!
entrees:
the ribs were just ok. with a jingle so catchy people still sing it a decade later, this should totally be their best dish. shame on them.
the grilled scrimp tacos on the other hand were spicy and delectible. i actually ate a leftover taco for breakfast. for breakfast! this from a girl who won't eat anything but breakfast food as the first meal of the day, even if she doesn't get up until 3 pm.
drinks:
we each tried a margarita- she a "freshest," and me a pomegranate. not bad, but a tad overpriced.
service: can't complain. friendly, quick but not rushed, and correct.
so the moral of the story is, don't bring a date to barstow. but if you must dine out while you're there, chili's is where it's at.
It's a Chili's, and they all pretty much strive to be alike. In that respect, this place succeeds. The staff are quite friendly though! I've eaten here many times while in town for work, and I've never had a mishap with my order. They're also great for those on business because they have no problem splitting the bill any way you need.
Honestly, I try to avoid such restaurants... but this is Barstow, and I can't say that many of the local offerings are better. So, if you're stuck here (like I am) it's probably your best bet for decent food and good service.
I love how this location is very quiet and it's easy to find parking. It's never crowded here too, which is a plus for me.
I've tried their honey chipotle chicken crispers with a side of onion strings and corn.. which I usually always get when I go here. Recently, I've tried the the turkey sandwich with avocado. I love it! It's very good, especially if you're trying to eat something light. My husband & I always get the queso dip for an appetizer.. very yummy, but make sure you don't fill up on that while you're waiting for your food. If space permits, we like to end our meal with the chocolate molten cake... YUM! The food is like every other Chilis restaurants out there, nothing special about it.
The service isn't too great here.. so, minus one star.
It's next to the Arco gas station and across from the Country Inn & Suites hotel. Â There's a coupon at the Tangers Outlet coupon booklet for a free chips and salsa.
It's very spacious at the dining area and the bar. Â Great place to relax when there's traffic on the way back from Vegas.
On our way back from a Vegas bachelor party we planned the requisite stop at In-N-Out Barstow. Becuase In-N-Out is delicious and because that's what you do on your way back from Vegas. In fact, I made my buddy the bachelor -- who was starving -- wait till Barstow to eat.
"Dude, relax, your Double-Double will be that much more delicious."
In-N-Out was closed that Sunday (Easter Sunday). Oops, my bad.
But then my buddy had what seemed like a brilliant idea: what about the Chili's across the street. For the win. Chili's is one of the better chain restaurants. What could go wrong?
Answer: the spinach dip (bland and cold). The service (also bland and cold). Â My rum-and-pineapple (bland and warm).
This is not your typical Chili's. In this case, that's a bad thing.
Mediocre...food is sometimes good, but the majority of the time it is either wrong, cold or accompanied by plastic bags or something else the cooks forgot to remove from the pre-made food before serving. Granted they did give us 50$ worth of gift certificates after that little stunt. Its a 50/50 chance you take at this place. Sometimes its good, sometimes it's horrible. It stinks because the options for resteraunts in this town blows. So if you do try it..be prepared for the worst and hope for the best! Lol
Review Source:One would think going to a 'Chain' restaurant is a safe bet. Â You'd expect the food to be consistent or at least somewhat close. Â NOT HERE!!!! Â
I've always liked Chili's. Â No, they don't have the finest food on earth, but they do have a few dishes I like. Â When I just don't feel like driving more than 10 minutes to go somewhere or eating fast food, I can go to Chili's and have a descent meal. Â
On our way back from Vegas, I just didn't want to have tacos, burgers, or chicken at Barstow again, so I told my fiance to stop at Chili's. Â When we walked in, we were greeted and led to a booth which still had crumbs all over the seats. Â The host quickly grabbed a wet towel to wipe them. Â One would think he could have just seated us at another booth because the restaurant was pretty empty. Â He dropped the menu and left. Â I had to grab some napkins from another table to wipe the seats again b/c they were too wet to sit.
When we sat down and put our hands on the table, we got ketchup on our arms! Â What was wrong with these people? Â They weren't even busy and they couldn't even clean the table/seats right? Â Then the host brought over a couple of forks wrapped in napkins. Â He said, sorry, we only have forks. Â The waiter later explained that the kitchen couldn't clean the knife fast enough. Â WTF?
Next to my food. Â I ordered 1/2 rack of baby back ribs thinking I've had this many times before at the Chili's near my house and they have always been pretty good. Â But when I took a bite, they were cold!!! Â My guess is that they ribs were 'pre-cooked' and when someone orders it, they just put on some BBQ sauce and pop them in the microwave oven to heat. Â And they couldn't even heat them hot!!!! Â I ended up eating only 2 pieces (of the 6 pieces). Â This was the WORST baby back ribs I've ever had in my whole life!!! Â
Unfortunately I also had to make a stop at the rest room and it was messy as hell. Â Paper towel everywhere on the floor. Â Com'on! Â Even Del Taco's restroom is cleaner than yours! Â
I thought Bob's Big Boy was bad! Â Chili's was worse!!! Â If you must stop to refuel at Barstow, stick with fast food. Â I've learned my lessons now.
Chili's is Chili's. I really do not know what to say about it but it's good. Service is great. I went on a Sunday afternoon during the football games and it was not crowded at all. I ordered the Cajun Ribeye steak and it was delicious. I think this is the best 'sit down' place off Lenwood if you are trying to avoid any fast food joints or Dennys.
Also the servers here look like they're under 18. Oh so young!
