After a morning at Chimney Rock, we were in need of lunch and decided to try this over Genny's because of bad reviews on the latter. The atmosphere is very bright and fun and friendly. I got a turkey club, and it was okay except for the mayonnaise I said not to put on it, and my grandpa's order got messed up as well. It was just average food that served the purpose of a quick lunch.

Good food. Only cold beer in town.  The four of us had a burgers and sandwiches and we all thought they were good.

    The Old Rock Café

After a group of friends and I finished our summit to Chimney Rock, we decided that we had worked up quite an appetite. Our bodies needed nourishment and after seeing a road sign for the Old Rock Café we figured there was no harm in trying something new. As soon as I opened the front door the music in the building sounded like it came from the 1960's; sure enough Leader of the Pack by Shangri-Las came out around 1965. Hearing the song brought a smile to my face because it reminded me of music my grandparents would listen to. My grandfather would say, "You children don't know about this music right here."

The café had a very relaxing vibe to it; everyone I saw during lunch time had a smile on their faces because perhaps that place was just the right place to be, plain and simple. I had the New Old Rock Combo (a triple layer sandwich with ham, turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise) of course anyone can choose what type of meat or vegetables they do not want. A side of fries brought the meal to completion and my stomach was satisfied. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have their lunch in the present and fade into the rhythmic sounds of the past.
