No need to give a detailed review. I came in here because it was a tequila bar. They have a better than average selection of tequilas for which they get a star for in this review (otherwise it would be a 1 star place). Margaritas taste like they are from a mix...blech.
Not much to say about the food except it is nothing special. The words "complete lack of imagination" come to mind when we received our entrees......think Chi's Chi's and you have a good idea of what you can expect.
If you would like to try a couple nice reposados hit this place up....just keep your expectations low for the food if you are going there to eat.
This is the second time Ive been in this location. The only reason I did was because I had thought they closed, but noticed lights on last night. So I swung in to see whats new. It was roughly 8pm.
Right away I realized why I noticed the lights on.....it was as bright as the face of god in the joint!!! That, coupled with the colorful, 'toony decor' made it look more like a daycare center than somewhere I wanted to enjoy a margarita. I asked if they were still open. The bartender said they were, but5 just for drinks as the kitchen had closed. I asked what time they closed and he responded "we don't really have a set closing time, basically after everyone is gone". This is a common trait of restaurants in their final death throws. Ive worked in restaurants that followed this philosophy in the past and one thing Ive learned....If customers have to wonder weather you'll be open or not, they tend to just not go.
I asked the bartender for a margarita. okie doke, "whats your rail tequila?" I said. "I'm not sure, I think it's phillips". he responds and proceeds to squirt it directly out of the gun. Â Bummer! a place that hangs it's hat on tequila and I cant even get a good marg'? They believe they are giving a deal because "every marg' is 2-4-1. However, each marg has a total of 5oz of 'liquid' Â and the charge $7.50. Even if you dump both into one glass its still overpriced for the quality and quantity. Â
I was the only person in the place, but shortly after I sat down two women came in and sat at the bar. They asked "what flavor margaritas" they had. The bartender responds with "strawberry and regular". The girls were like "whatever, we'll have strawberry then".
Ciento......if you read this; lemon juice, simple syrup, orange juice. prep and hold in a store and pour, it keeps for 7 days. Maragrita = 1.5oz gold tequila, .5oz triple sec, 4oz sweet-n-sour mix, juice of 1/2lime. Heaven!! And get some fruit purees for god sake!! Â peach, raspberry, mango, blackberry, passionfruit.
success isn't hard, but it does take a little effort.
