Thanks for Elite Yelp giving me two free tickets to the Legally Blonde musical show~

My first time going to Cabrillo Music Theater. There is a parking structure, $8. Some people park the car at the Clam Jumper plaza (FREE) and walk up to the theater.

The building is well maintained & very clean. Next month, they are doing renovation in the lobby, it is going to look even better when it is completed. 3 windows at the Box Office. It takes me about 10 minutes to get my tickets from the Will Call windows.

The theater is not too small. Sound system is excellent! The ushers are super friendly.

The Legally Blonde musical is phenomenal~ All the performers are very talented with great voice. The music is very cheerful. The story is very funny. What a great show~

The story is very inspiring for the children!! It is a perfect show for the family.

We sat in the front row balcony for a performance of 'Les Mis'.  The acoustics were horrible, it was so very difficult to understand the words - at first I thought I needed to get my hearing checked, but at the intermission found that everyone in my party was having the same experience.  For expensive tickets, this was a huge disappointment.

It's a big clean venue but for $8 parking you would expect a well air conditioned place. Nope. Took my kids to see The Wiggles and we felt like we were roasting during the entire show.  It really ruined the moment.

A few nights ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone perform in the Fred Kavli Theatre.  Aside from the fact that those two put on a spectacular show, my brother and I sat in the THIRD ROW, CENTER............OMG...........AMAZING.  Great sound, great venue, so close to the performers.......it was superb..........and ........... when people walked by us in the row, I barely had to move my legs.  Why?  Because the rows are so wonderfully spaced APART.  So UNLIKE the Valley Performing Arts Center, which I cannot stand.  Parking here, for free, is right next to the venue.  What a difference.  That's all I have to say.

The classical performances here are first rate, the rest not so much. Blue Man was mildly enjoyable, mostly just special effects.  The rest -  ugh . . .  Some Chinese gymnasts doing things your grandkids probably execute at recess, accompanied by some canned music that almost certainly could cause mental illness  (We left before sustaining permanent damage);   a cruise ship magician advertised with the "Cirque" label who took a 20 minute act, found some 3rd and 4th rate acts at random and turned it into an hour and a half ordeal at $80 per seat.

For all that, we will probably go back sometime or other because the venue is really quite nice.  On the other hand,  we'll also exercise GREAT care in researching what is actually being put on.

For Valentines Day, my boyfriend took me to see Colbie Caillat at the Civic Arts Plaza.  It was a great show!!  I have been to several shows here before, but this one will stick with me forever!

When we arrived, parking in the garage was still fairly open.  And it is only $8 to park, not that bad!  When we walked up to the doors (for them to check our tickets), each person was handed a rose!  I'm not sure if this was Colbie's idea, or the CAP's idea.  But it was so great :)

On each level, they have full bars set up, which is nice for a pre-concert drink!  However, you can't take them into the theater, so depending when you get the drink, you may have to drink fast.

We were seated in the Mezzanine Box Left.  It is up on the side of the stage with regular seats.  they are not bolted down, so you can move them to see the stage at the angle you want.  We were in seats 11 and 12 which were the perfect place to watch the show.  The volunteer for our box was Doris.  She was so great and definitely reminded me of my grandmother!

Colbie's show was perfect.  The set-up of the concert was like a living room.  Just how you would imagine Colbie singing.  But I'm not reviewing her show, I'm reviewing the TOCAP.

The overall experience was wonderful!!  Definitely a theater to visit!

Seats are comfortable and you can tell it is a very new venue.

It's pretty easy to get to, and traffic in and out wasn't too bad.

I came to the TOCAP earlier this year to see a small Matisyahu show, it was amazing. The acoustics are good here and he didn't even need a mic (for the front section people) I was very impressed. Would definitely come back if something worth seeing was playing.

Modern, sleek and oh so intimate.
If you have a chance to see a play, musical ...etc here... I'd recommend it.

It's also conveniently located next to eats and shops so that you can do your thing before heading over to your show. :) Tons of free parking too!

Well I've been here a few times now, and call me crazy, but it seems smaller every time I go. However, I also agree that the parking is a breeze in the large adjoining lot next to the Arts plaza.

You just have to remember to pretend you're going to the adjoining plaza before you do the "fake-out" followed by the "duck-and-weave" to avoid confrontation with "Paul Blart-Mall Cop" fervently on the look out and combing the parking lot for the oblivious tourists too blind to read the "NO CIVIC ARTS PLAZA PARKING" signs with the "we will tow according to local law ordinance # blah-blah-blah" in fine print.

But then again, a little "law breaking" never hurt anyone!

After you make your way to the Civic Arts Plaza, you'll likely find the 65+ senior citizen staff (recruited from the mobil home park across the street) helpful and courteous....unless of course you're unfamiliar with the seating sections and find yourself walking towards the wrong section were you're likely to get a scolding and finger pointing the way only granny could do after she finds your secret goodie box under you bed.

They'll you feel right at home!

I was going to write a really long, involved review about a girl in college I had a crush on, a crush so bad that I basically abandoned work one weekend (and lied about it--but don't worry; I didn't sign in for the hours I wasn't there) to see her in a musical at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.  But I've decided not to write that review, so you'll have to deal with this one.

The theater is really nice, and the production of Tommy I saw here was really really really good.  From all the information I have about this place, they have their stuff together.

It's basically a four-star deal, and it might get a bonus phantom star for having an architectural detail on the roof that looks like a cage from the freeway.  I always want there to be faux animals in there.

But I'm dinging it a star because the last time I drove by, I saw that part of it was called the Bank of America something or other.  Corporate sponsorship?  In TO?  Aren't you guys like mega-gazillionaires?  But I guess it's just par for the course, as corporate welfare is what makes this country go round.  We give the banks free money to gamble with, and if they win, they keep it.  If they lose, we pay the bill, and they keep their bonuses.  Sounds about right to me.

this venue books the best musicians. i saw Trevor Thompson's homecoming show here in 2007, and it was so emotional and beautiful, not a dry eye in the house. i only wish he'd worn his old football jersey, that would've made it a true homecoming performance.

On Cinco de Mayo we came here to see Pink Martini (an eclectic band for all ages and tastes). The venue is large and has great acoustics.

Parking was a breeze. We just parked in the parking lot for a restaurant/shopping center and walked across a bridge to the arts plaza.

The bathrooms were very clean, they had art hanging on the walls for viewing, and the best part of all was that the seating gave plenty of leg room. So you didn't have to worry about getting leg cramps from sitting with your knees up to your chin.

Would consider coming here again if they had something we really wanted to see, but I think I'll stay more local for music and other events (with gas these days staying local is preferred). But keep this place in mind if it's local for you. It's in a perfect location that can draw the LA crowd as well as the Ventura crowd.

The Countrywide Performing Arts Center is an impressive venue given the location.  According to their website, it is the largest theater between LA and SF.  My only advice is spring the extra cash for the better seats because there are two balconies and I can only imagine the kind of nosebleed you'd get way up there.

Truly, I would give this theater a 3.5. I have seen a couple of concerts here that were phenomenal, but for the most part, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is all about the second rate performances of live stage productions. Musicals galore, and sometimes some local performing arts take the stage. I've seen my fair lot, and can safely say that it's almost all completely blah, bland, mediocre, you know what I'm saying. Also, it's a bit of a drive for anyone but the Conejo Valley, and really, that's who they appeal to. So, if you're anywhere near L.A., stick to your local theaters, okay?
