I ordered a crab and corn soup and a mixed broiled seafood platter of oysters, shrimps and sea scallops with  string beans and fried okra.  

The interior is a cross between NYC public school lunch room and a mariner's museum.  Black and white checkered 24" linoleum surround the floor. Walls are light blue on the bottom and white on top. Oars, sails and sailing flags hang on the walls. Tables are adorned by aquamarine and blue striped plastic covers.

Back to the food and service. The crab chowder is one of the best I've had:  It comes with a briny and peppery cream base and is loaded with crab meat that actually tastes like crab, and not some numb, stringy meat you find in other eateries. Oysters, shrimp and scallops are cooked medium rare and retain their taste well. They need no accompanying sauce. The fried okra has a strong earthy taste and is fried just right so that it's crisp and not oily. However, if you don't like okra to begin with, I doubt you will like this. The string beans are wide and flat and out of a can, which is fine by me, because I like Del Monte string beans better than I do fresh. You also get free hush puppies, which from my experience in North Carolina, have a sweet pancake taste, rather than an herbal you find in South Carolina or Alabama.

The service is top notch as exemplified by my waitress Jennifer B. Drinks are refilled, service is fast, the demeanor very friendly. You do not feel rushed by any means.
