What do you call a dive bar that has been hit by the ugly stick so many times it doesn't  flinch anymore?
In Olivet Michigan, you call it the Coach Light Inn and despite some obviously vicious beatings by said stick, the food here isn't bad.
My daughter goes to college here in Olivet. She plays soccer for the school in NCAA Division 3. Small college, small city right? Â Well small doesn't come close to describing this one blinker-light of a town. Every single D3 college we've played in two years exist in a town that dwarfs Olivet in size and amenities.
There used to be two resturant/bars in town, but one burnt down. So now, if you want a sit down meal that does not include your table and chairs, you go the Coach Light Inn. You'll be greeted by a decor than screams Uncle Bob's basement... after the flood.
But to give credit, the food and the prices are not bad. The 1/2 pound Titian Bacon Burger ($5.95) was very good as well as their Onion Rings ($2.00). The burger had a nice charred flavor indicating a well seasoned grill was used. Â The bacon was cut thick and was flavorful as was the sharp cheddar cheese.
The Wednesday Night Special was $1.00 Tacos and $1.00 Long Necks. The Tacos looked exactly like what Uncle Bob used to through together from left-overs. Flower tortilla with some ground beef, lettuce, cheese and a splash of salsa (not even from the same planet as a Los Altos Taco) Â Those hungry soccer players eat them by the dozens, but I'm not sure if "better than dorm food" is a glowing endorsement.
And as for the beer selection, they carry "both" Â kinds... Miller and Bud...
What more do you need in a one blinker-light town?
