This place is most awesome!! Great country and waterfront place. Cool deck outside. Great views and often large yachts tied up at the dock.

The staff is friendly and helpful and checked on us often.

I ate here a long time ago and had a 32 oz Prime Rib and it was the best Prime Rib I ever ate. I see they still have them and need one soon.

I stopped in here with Monica on the way to the Outer Banks and had a most fantastic lunch. They have cold Yuengling on draft. We shared a salad with crab meat and it was loaded and delicious. Monica had a soft shell crab sandwich and it was great. I had the shrimp sandwich and it was most fantastic!!

We stopped here on the way back from the Outer Banks and got to see some football and have a great lunch - I had the crab cake and it was one of the best I've had. Monica had crab on salad and it was awesome.

I took pics of my 2 recent visits and are posted here.

Don't postpone joy - go to Coinjock Marina Restaurant for some great grub, views and friendly people.

A side note - I met a guy that used to work where I do - he was there in 1973. It is a small world.

Excellent food! This homey, no frills location sells coastal comfort food that I would eat at every day if I could. Make sure to get the homemade chips!

Homemade ranch dressing? Who does that anymore? This place. Come here if you want a homemade, casual meal. Surf and turf, views of the canal, mid-range prices. Dinner plates run around $15 to $20 per person. I had the blackened tuna (ordered it medium rare) and it was a bit overdone. My boyfriend got the prime rib ($40... definitely the priciest item on the menu) and he loved it. A lady the next table over got some fried fish and it looked good. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor was set jn the early 90's, but the view of the canal made up for the outdated decor. The music was a bit odd... Depeche Mode, Lady Gaga, and Elton John... Maybe its their winter playlist. This place seems more like a Jack Johnson, Jimmy Buffet type music place. If you are wondering where the locals eat, this is it. I will come back here in the summertime when I can sit outside. I also may check out their weekend brunch. Their beer was priced very reasonably... $2 and $3 for a domestic beer at dinner time is almost unheard of anymore.

Just came back from Southern Shores, and headed straight to Yelp. I was first surprised a the prices, and worried it would be little food. I am a big eater, and could not finish my dinner. Does not happen often. The scallops were delish, and I savored every one. My mom got the sweet potato and brocolli with her meal. So impressed witha cup of a brown sugar topping, and the big bunc of broc. was perfectly steamed. She ate the entire plate. (88 years old!) The chips tha everyone gets tableside were fab. and the homemade sauce was wonderful. Side salad as a veg was bland, but ok. Hushpuppies were sweet and wanted to keep what I could not eat. I put them in microwave in the morning with an iced tea. Was great. Shrimp was good and I am ofter critical of crabcakes, an thought these were good...despite another reviewer. Everyone can have a bad day. I would for sure go again...ps you should have seen the "ordered ahead 24 oz. Prime Ribs" at the table next to us. Holy cow!!!!! They have had before and looked like happy campers.....a little far from the beach though...

Second time we have been here. Beautiful spot with nice views. Food is great, portions could be a little bigger though. Overall a great experience with friendly and caring staff. Worth a stop by on your way to or from Nags Head.

Was in the area, read the reviews, found one that wasn't happy, but went anyhow. That one complainer should stick to the fast food establishments. If you arrive by car you approach from the rear and the place is a little non descript and your not sure this is the place you were looking for. However once thru the door impressions changed. The waitress was very cordial and accommodating . We were seated pier side with a very nice view of the waterway and passing traffic. We got there just before 3 pm when the menu changes from lunch to dinner. We had our hearts set on the 32oz Prime Rib which is not on the lunch menu. The waitress checked the kitchen and we were able to order except baked potatoes wouldn't be ready quite yet. Since we were ordering early the waitress complimented us with a free order of those famous homemade Hot Potato Chips, they were fabulous, and a very generous serving, almost a meal in their own. The prime Rib was excellent, done to our preference, and the sides were fresh and hot. To top it off the waitress presented an array of desserts that would make a grown man cry. Everything was perfect, some reviews indicate pricey, but I thought were reasonable for the meal provided. If your traveling to or from the OBX, boating the Inland waterway, or just local it's a stop worthwhile. Great and interesting view, great food, clean dining area and restrooms (And yes the restrooms are up 1step)

One of our favorite Marinas. Had dinner last night and the seafood was very good. Service was not fancy but very adequate. Came back with friends two nghts later and none of us (4) were disappointed with the quality of the food, plus we had a very nice wine at a reasonable price

Not good. Disappointment.

Fantastic location but BAD food.

Food came out cold, everyone's. Kitchen just put back under the broiler for a few more minutes. Food came back blazing hot, but now overcooked on the outside and mushy in the inside.

Some of the worst crab cakes I've ever eaten. They were noting but filler, OR they were the worst crab meat on earth. Either way, they were mushy and fishy-tasting.

Baked potato was filled with aluminum foil pieces. Chef didn't peal off the foil, just cut right throuh it.

The prices were comparable to San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf or New York South Street Seaport.

Not disabled accessible. My elderly mother made it into the restaurant but had to climb steps to get to the restroom.

There are too many better places to eat in this neck of the woods. Drive right past the Coinjock Marina Restaurant. You'll be glad you did.

Generally unpleasant dining experience. Left me with a nasty taste in my mouth for the rest of the night.

We went here on a Wed, early lunch time. We were the first one's there, but you can tell it's a great place, when by the time we left, it was filling in steadily with people. We sat in the bar area. You could see the water and boats coming in from there. The food was excellent. I ordered the Seafood Sandwhich (Oysters). Yum!!! Great price and a good serving amount. Their Homemade Potato Chips were great too, not too greasy for those who don't like greasy chips. I also had the Kickin' Corn & Crab Chowder. It had a good amount of spiciness to it. My only regret is that I couldn't eat more. Hahahaha. If we are ever out that way again, we will surely go back.

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were driving on Saturday in the midst of the crazy traffic we decided we needed a break. This place had excellent service, nice out door seating and fresh seafood and sides. The sides were super yummy. I got the shrimp plate with green beans and cole slaw and my husband got the fish with shrimp. The hush puppies were yum and the fish was fresh.

We have traveled to Nags Head hundreds of times and stopped off at this place after looking at Yelp. How bad could it be?
Go out of your way. We did and it's up there. Hot chips were as advertised on yelp. We were taking some to go. We had seafood shrimp and oyster sandwiches. Could not be better. Still thinking about the prime rib sandwich I could have had but next time. Very pleasant surprise. We'll be stopping again you can be sure. What a find.

Try the big prime rib! It has to be at least two pounds. Great marina store as well. Great spot, try to find it!!! They fill up quick and sometimes they make you raft.

If there's one thing that stands out on the Coinjock Marina & Restaurant menu it is "homemade." Homemade potato chips. Homemade slaw. Homemade soups. Homemade tartar sauce. Homemade cocktail sauce.

And the other thing you'll notice is fresh vegetables, fresh seafood. And when the meal comes to the table, you'll be amazed at the preparation and recipe designs. There are daily luncheon specials - some quite unique - such as a recent 'shrimp Thai wrap,' a combination of sweet and hot spices with shrimp and veggies.

But after all when you are catering to high class yacht traffic from New England to Florida spring and fall, you'd better be good to compete for the upper class tastes of even international yachtsmen.

Coinjock Marina & Restaurant sits on the Intercoastal Waterway at 321 Waterlily Rd., Coinjock, NC, 27923 just off Route 158 running from Tidewater Virginia to NC's Outer Banks. It's proximity to the populous Tidewater area of Virginia also makes the restaurant a favorite of locals. Telephone: 252-453-3271; email: marina@coinjockmarina.com.

It's web page, http://coinjockmarina.com, is a woeful waste of time and money as an advertisement of it wonderful offerings to yachtsmen and diners.
