Back up North
Been here both for the Cinnamon Roll for Breakfast and for  a Friday fish fry.
First, the Cinnamon Roll. Â This is a 5 star. Â I remember when they said the total, it seemed like WAY to little. Â You would never find anything this good for the price in a Metropolitan area. Â
Amazing. Â You must get one.
Dinner service was good. Â A packed house at 6pm on a Friday during Lent, so take that for what you will. Â Everything clearly made in the back. Â The garlic redskin potato was very good. Â I had the perch (don't see that on the menu in Maryland very often) and it was tasty. Â Overall very friendly wait staff, could have used another refill, but still on point and prompt.
My first visit to Connie's was for breakfast while up deer hunting this past November. I don't remember the name of the meal but it was big. But more than anything it was very good. Frankly I have only one complaint. Connie's has set the bar so high nothing will come close. I will have to wait a year, but I will return. This was breakfast perfection.
Review Source:Great breakfast spot along Rt. 23, was directed there by locals in Alpena. "Popeye Omelet" was very good, servings of (obviously homemade) bread maybe a bit much (4 1"thick slices - who can eat all 4?). Otherwise great meal! Good old-school home fries. Clearly home-made cinnamon 'buns' are each large enough for a family, and yet they look (surprisingly) very, very good...
Review Source:Connies has possibly the worst coffee I have ever had. Â It reminded me of weak tea. Â The waitress will tell you nobody complains, go back 6 months later and she will give you the same line. Â Better to go south about a mile and you will find a country cafe with better food and real coffee.
Review Source:Connies is a must-visit if you're looking for a good down-home american breakfast in the area. Â It's really the only place that you can get good home cooking between Oscoda and Alpena.
The atmosphere is very quaint. Â There's about 20 tables all in one room and it has the atmosphere of eating in a large comfortable living room. Â Food is excellent (especially breakfast) and they have Cinnamon Buns the size of your head (literally). Â
Our family eats here nearly every morning when in the area. Â Check it out!
