I eat here with my family once a month! Sometimes it's very good and other times it's not so great. We have had food over cooked and we have had some dishes under cooked while other were just delish! The last time we ate there 3 of the 4 of us ended up sick. Called the restaurant and the owner apologized but said we properbly didn't get it from their food...well my doctor says we properbly did.
Review Source:This place sucks!!!!!! The staff has no idea what they are doing. First off when I called, the girl on the phone couldn't answer any of my questions. Not being able to answer my simple question's she told me I had to call back in an HOUR!!!!! Later that night  I was able to get some answers and place an order to go. When I got their, they were extremely rude to me. Hello it's not my fault your idiot's!!! The topper was when i arrived home to my starving husband, the idiot's put our food straight from the fryer into styrofoam container's, melting the container to our food. Totally inedible!!!!! What a waste of time and money!!!!
Review Source:Second visit to this great new place and brought my husband this time. Â He enjoyed two glasses of local, tasty Chardonnay (Shannon Ridge), and I enjoyed two glasses of Chenin Blanc. Â The lights were dim and good Irish music was playing.
The two ladies working that night were wonderful.
Great to have somewhere to drink wine, somewhere open after 9 PM, in Hidden Valley Lake. Â A few tweaks and this place will be a winner !
This is a great new place in Hidden Valley Lake. Their Irish specialties are excellent, especially the Kerry Pie and other lamb dishes. The Rueben sandwich is fabulous... they make their own pastrami and it is NOT dry (like someone said). Quite the opposite, it's flavorful and succulent. Their cole slaw salad is a knock-out and the fish n chips are quite good too.
I haven't tried much more on the menu as yet  but plan to come back often and try everything. So far, I've been here a dozen or more times and have never been disappointed. I hope the locals support this place because it's now the best food around.  The wait staff is young but friendly and helpful. The cook -- if it's the owner -- is doing a great job.
I've tried to give this "new" to hidden valley restaurant the benefit of the doubt but after five visits to this establishment I've been severely rubbed the wrong way. Allow me to explain, we've been served cold coffee, cold clam chowder(which indicates that they don't serve fresh ingredients), their corned beef Ruben is dry and tough and nasty. Today I tried the chowder again and it was so over flavored with rosemary that I couldn't even taste the clam, which is the main ingredient! I refuse to sing any praises of this establishment as I expressed my concerns  to the owner and he did absolutely nothing to right the situation. After multiple bad experiences here I will not return here ever again! Fool me once, twice, three times, four times? Shame on me for giving this restaurant the benefit of the doubt.
8/9/2012 update: I still vow to never eat here ever again ! This place is no pub and the only thing Irish in the place is the music.
I have been to this restaurant/pub.....several times. Â I go back because the service is great, the food outstanding, the prices very reasonable all with a lakefront view and live music. Â It's now the only restaurant we go to in Clearlake! Â Try the curry pasties or the fish and chips! Â They also have a full bar, you can eat in the bar or in the restaurant.
