Corner Pocket the

The Corner Pocket is a great little dive bar and pool hall in downtown Panama City. I've been coming here off and on since I was a teenager.

There are quite a few pool tables and a small bar with what looks to be a relatively basic selection of alcoholic drinks at the front of the building. All the prices are very reasonable. They have affordable drinks, and playing pool at the Corner Pocket is one of the most affordable activities to be found in an overpriced town.

The prices when I went were $8 for an hour of pool per table or $5 per person to play all night. That's a great deal for a fun activity in an environment I find strangely charming.

The bathrooms are kind of gross, but they are actually cleaner than they look. A word of warning though, the atmosphere is VERY smokey. This should probably go without saying given the sort of establishment the Corner Pocket is, but some may find it hard to deal with. Just know you'll reek of smoke until you get out of those clothes.

The crowd is very blue collar, but I've always felt safe here. It's not a particularly rough crowd.

All in all it's a fun activity that's affordable in a pool hall with a strong reputation in Bay County.

If you're looking for a low-key and cheap place to hang out, look no further. It's conveniently located downtown and while it looks small from the facade, it's actually quite big - lots of pool tables and room to sit around. Kind of smokey and dark, but that's to be expected.
