Country House Restaurant

Simple down home cooking at reasonable prices.  The food and service were both good.  This restaurant is off the tourist trail and is basically patronized by the locals and caters to their needs.  The locals like it because it seems to be always packed and everyone knows everyone else. There is a simple basic but fresh salad bar and a variety of hard packed ice creams to choose from.  I personally had the smothered (i.e. very lighly sauted green peppers, onions, mushrooms and a slice of cheese melted on) chicken breast filet. It came with a choice of a trip to the salad bar or slaw, a choice of French fries or baked or sweet potato and choice of freshly cooked rolls or hush puppies.  All for under $7.00. The only negative was that although the French fries were hot and crispy, they tasted like they were made from frozen.  They serve serve seafood, fish, meat and a variety of down home style meals in a very friendly setting
