WE DID NOT EAT HERE. We just went to the store and bought some items.

The menu was tantalizing, but still not something we were willing to pay for. So we skipped on that, but bought a few items in this shop.

The okra they had was $1 a pound. Holy Okra! then they had green peppers at .50 cents a pound. Holy Peppers! Then they had some interesting "salsa" which I think is more like chutney- like pineapple salsa, peach salsa ... they were 3.50 for a small jar and we were more than happy to buy a few to bring back home for us and for some friends. We tried several when we got home, and all in all, everyone was entertained and satisfied.

They also have several items here, but I bit overpriced in my opinion. They have several "bbq" sauces in regular sized bottles at about 7-8 bucks a pop. MMmmmm..???

I iked it though. However, in my opinion, it's not up to par to people's expectations. It is still nice and cute and quaint, but something is missing ...

This place advertised that they open at 11:30am for lunch. Two days in a row we got there at 11:30 to eat and were turned away despite there being several open tables. The staff used the excuse "we had a big breakfast crowd" to turn us away and state that they would not seat us until 12:30. When there are several empty tables this is crazy to turn away customers.  We will not be back.

I worked at Callaway Gardens the summers of 2003 and 2004 and always enjoyed the Country Store as a treat during my summers spent there. Now, if I can swing it, I try to go en route to Atlanta or while visiting the Pine Mountain area.

Their food is basic and southern but most of it done well. I will never forget my Nana, at that time in her 80s, saying she hadn't had red eye gravy like that since she was a girl growing up in Greenville, AL. I always buy a jar of their Muscadine Preserves to bring her.

Contrary to other posts, I have never had poor service. I love the view and the peaceful ambience.

Wow....unfortunate night at the Country Kitchen. You have to be bad in a lot of areas to get a bad review from me. I'm so laid back that I don't even care if you bring me something other than what I ordered half the time. This place failed in every major area. No leadership.....it was apparent it was host by committee and no one seemed to be running the place. Second, they brought biscuits and cornbread but no silverware. We asked several times, went up to the front to get it ourselves and multiple people told us they would get it for us but 15 minutes later used our fingers to put butter on our biscuits. I tried to cut our server some slack on drink refills as it looked like he was waiting on the whole restaurant but later he said he had 5 tables. Basically he was a poor server who was inattentive and doubt he ever knew we had no silverware.   As far as our meal....well, we never got it. Our server did say the kitchen was in the weeds and it would be a while but why were they so far behind? The place maybe had 20-25 tables with people at them and virtually none of the 10-15 tables near us had food on them. We finally paid for our sweet teas and walked about 45 minutes later. This was the perfect storm....bad kitchen, very poor service and no one really caring in this restaurant one way or the other.

This is a great restaurant. My wife and I ate lunch and dinner here during our stay at Callaway Gardens. The food was great and the service was very friendly!! The biscuits and muscadine preserves are awesome!! And the view is amazing. The restaurant sits on top of a mountain. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the vicinity of Callaway Gardens.

The view is beautiful, and so is the restaurant.

The service, however, was terrible.  If you're young, expect not to be treated the same as the older patrons.

My fiance and I were the youngest table there, being in our 20's with no children.  There was a minimum 15 year age difference between us and the next youngest patron (discounting the toddlers).  Every other table, even those who came in after us, were taken care of before us.  It took 40 minutes to get drink refills, and when we did see our waitress, she gave no reaction to our attempts to get her attention.  Lack of drinks delayed eating our food by about 25 minutes, by which time it was cold.

Honestly, we felt singled out as people who the waitstaff figured would leave a not-awesome tip, so we shouldn't have stellar (or even good) service.  It was a self fulfilling prophecy.

The best thing about this restaurant is the beautiful view outside the windows.  Our breakfast was nothing to brag about.  Everything was just  bland except the biscuits that were very good.  The service was very good and we had a good waiter and we enjoyed looking through the country store after eating.   I don't think we would go back.

If you're looking for good southern cooking - this is your spot! I have had breakfast and lunch here and wasn't disappointed by any means. The view is fantastic (love the huge windows and light) and right across the street there is even a more gorgeous view where you can take family photos (and saw quite a few in progress). There is also a store in the front of the restaurant with cute knickknacks. I bought an adorable piggy bank and Christmas tree ornament. I checked out the wine store that carried wine from local vineyards - love that local support! And don't forget to try the biscuits -the absolute best I've ever had!!

Good value, good food.  This country restaurant has the style of Cracker Barrel but much better flavors.  Visit this place for breakfast lunch or dinner.

The service needs to move. The last time I went it took an hour and a half from ordering to paying.  So plan to relax and enjoy the view.

The southern fare here was well seasoned, and comes with buttermilk buscuits and corn muffins complete with muscadine jelly. The seating area shares space with a charming country store, and the tables overlook a wooded valley near Callaway. It was very scenic. The staff was very friendly, and you can get great advice if you are going down the road to Callaway after your meal.

In three trips to Calloway Gardens, this is the only restaurant we've visited. I hate it, but that's because I have a milk allergy. Everything here is made with buttermilk and butter, and would you like some butter with that butter?  It's really down home southern. My husband loves it, especially for the breakfast. I admit, the biscuits look really good, but I'm stuck with fruit, hardboiled eggs, and juice. Meh.  The kids love shopping in the toy and candy sections of the store.
