You must be kidding..the "garden fresh salad" was at best mediocre. Not crisp, warm and just plain bland. Do not order halibut or whitefish. One in our party had the halibut, watery, tasteless, just like frozen fish. My entree ,the almond crusted whitefish came in a ball with a crabmeat filling. Not even any whitefish, not even one half of one filet. Meals were extremely over priced! Will never eat there again!
Review Source:Ate here for dinner on a weekend trip to Alpena - Picked the restaurant based off the Yelp rating and it didnt disappoint. Â Good salads, asparagus flatbread was tasty, i went with pizza which was good and my wife enjoyed her chicken salad. Â We were pleasantly surprised be the total on the bill. Â If we lived there, we would be back for sure. Â Only recommendation would be put more signage on the outside. Â We drove past it a couple times and almost gave up looking.
Review Source:If you're a foodie and you find yourself in Alpena, MI...this is it! Â Fantastic chef with an interesting menu. Â Good fresh (and many local!) ingredients, quality fish, and interesting and inventive dishes.
The atmosphere is stellar as long as you sit in the 'old part' (if they try and sit you up in the 'new room with a view' ask to be seated elsewhere). Â
The bar is an amazing spot to hang out (it's been around since the 1940s) and it screams atmosphere. Â
We go here everytime we  hit Alpena now and consider it the only place to get 'real food' anywhere within 50 miles.
Are you guys kidding me ? Where are the homemade noodles if we are a Italian restaurant ?
The Court Yard is not too bad, but I know the Sysco truck makes weekly visits.
I wish this was really more of a restaurant and not have the bar where local alcoholics with a little bit of money seemly hang out to drink.
My wife and I were looking for culinary gems on our way down the east coast of the state doing a lighthouse tour, and we were absolutely blown away by this place. Â The owner Chris was a friendly, salt of the earth guy who greeted us at the door and seated us. Â He also checked back during our meal, which was fantastic. Â We were not extremely hungry so we decided to split a salad and an entree. Â We settled upon the wilted spinach salad and ravioli with pesto sauce. Â They were both excellently delivered, and it was obvious that the ravioli had been made fresh. Â We were blown away by how good everything was: we felt the love in every bite. Â After we ate, I spent some time talking to Chris, and it did not take long for me to realize that he is passionate about food. Â He and his wife travel every year looking for new dishes to add to their menu; definitely a foodie destination in northern Michigan!
Review Source:Stopped by a few years ago for dinner and was impressed not only with the service, but the food quality and creativity-which is far superior to any restaurant in this part of the state. Any time I'm north of Tawas, a visit to the Court Yard will be planned. The owners make their presence known and will do anything within reason to insure you are happy with your dining experience. They have literally travelled the world looking for new dishes to serve and the menu changes accordingly-always some nice surprises being added. There are cheaper places to eat in Alpena, but if you want a quality meal served by an attentive waitstaff, this is your place. One of only a few places in Michigan that get my 5 stars.
