Delicious brews and top notch cheese curds that are easily the best cheese curds I've had. Granted, I've only been eating cheese curds for about 2 weeks, but will definitely come back here next time I'm in town. My only complaint is they only had 2 of their own brews on tap, for a brewery I would have liked to see a bigger selection.

Visited on 06/22/2013.  Server: Zack.   Raspberry Lemonades (4 @ $8.00) were very good.   Crab Cake appetizer ($12.50) was good, but no wow factor.   Salmon special (2 @ $32.90) was just okay, kind of bland, and not worth $32.90.   Service was very good.    Overall okay, but not worth what we paid.  Total Bill was $115.92 (excluding tip).

Had a wonderful lunch here with family after arriving for a visit.  Lovely building, friendly server and great food made this a nice intro to the area.  My lunch consisted of chicken noodle soup, half of a sliced beef sandwich on a pretzel roll and a small dish of pasta salad..all delicious.  The amber ale was tasty as well.

My husband was in town for work and I came up for a visit. As we usually do, we turned to Yelp for some recommendations and we were not disappointed. The Courthouse Pub is one of the few places my husband had not been yet so we were excited to check it out on a recent Friday evening.

We bought the Yelp deal ($20 for a $30 certificate) and also checked-in upon arrival and received a free microbrew. We were just planning on drinks and appetizers in the bar thanks to a filling breakfast earlier in the day at 8th & York.

We arrived around 5:30 and the place was already starting to fill up. It's a historic building and nicely decorated. We found seats at the bar. The bar also features tables and booth seating. I would definitely recommend reservations as many of the booth and tables were "reserved" when we arrived. The restaurant also features a dining room, but I highly recommend the bar area.

I ordered the Arrowood Chardonney which was featured for $6.50 a glass. My husband sampled several of their beers (they are a brewery and brew several styles in house) before selecting the Japanese style lager.

The menu looks great, but we stuck with just appetizers on this visit. We ordered the sizzling artichoke hearts and cheese curbs. The artichokes breaded and fried artichoke hearts were served on a sizzling platter in a pool of garlic butter. They were great; however, I would actually prefer they were served without the butter. A mild, wasabi ranch was served on the side (could have definitely used a little extra wasabi as it was missing any sort of kick).

The cheese curds were your standard fried, Wisconsin nugget. According to the menu, it was a housemade beer batter, but we didn't detect any beer flavor whatsoever and they were also pretty greasy (yes, it's fried cheese, but it seemed like the fryer wasn't hot enough and we had to use several napkins to drain the cheese curds before eating). The best part was the raspberry balsamic dipping sauce that came on the side. My husband was skeptic, but was immediately one over.

When it came time to check out, they completely screwed up our Yelp deal, but it totally worked to our benefit so no complaints on our end.

Our one complaint was that both bartenders on duty totally lacked in personality. It was our first time there and it would have been helpful to learn a little about their beers as we sampled them, but neither bartender was up to chatting.

The rest of the menu looked great and we would love to make it back again.

Brew pub atmosphere with a high class feel. Had the Chicken Pot Pie and could have made it myself (only because cooking is a hobby of mine that I excel at) for a quarter of the price and it would have been just as good. The service however is exceptional and the micro brew beers are very tasty and some are very original.

Had the tenderloin sandwich and washed it down with their imperial stout. Both were wonderful and the beer was free because it was my first check-in. The $20 for $30 Yelp special is well worth it, each dinner costs about $20-25 there.

My husband and I stopped for lunch on a Tuesday while on our way from Milwaukee to Green Bay. The reviews were good and they had a $30 for $20 Yelp deal.

The service was very quick. We each had a bowl if soup. He had the chicken wild rice and I had the chicken chili. The chili was very mild but fresh. The wild rice was creamy and delish.

He had a pub burger with cheddar and bacon, which came with fries. The bun was not just a regular bun, but a golden brown, very tasty toasty roll. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and potato-ey on the inside.

I has the craisin, bleu cheese and chicken salad. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and it had just the right amount of vinaigrette - not drowning. And the freshly baked roll that came it was to die for!

I wish there were places like this in Green Bay! It was immaculately clean and had a lot of character.

The food here was absolutely delicious. Their coconut shrimp - well. Wow. I rarely, if ever, like shell fish - but this I liked. The seasoning was just right to compliment the shrimp.
Backtracking a little, my husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner, with our baby daughter. The staff imidiatly were very helpful, bringing out a car seat stand for our daughter and were very polite while we took our time choosing our food. So much of their menu sounded mouthwatering wonderful. We both had hot tea, as well, which was served in very clever little push down pots.
Overall we had an excellent time. The atmosphere was friendly, the decor is warm and inviting, the staff pleasant, and food delightful. Without a doubt the best place to eat in town and the surrounding area. Even with the expensive nature of the dishes, my husband and I left feeling quite content we got our money's worth.

We traveled to Manitowoc for a memorial service last week. Afterwards there was a gathering at the family home. It was catered by Courthouse Catering and they were exceptional. There were a dozen or more hot and cold hors d'ouvres, each better than the last. Mini-baguette sandwiches (the BLT was great) and many desserts. The servers and the bartender were professional and polite. Everything they served was top notch. Wish they were on the northwest side of Chicago!

This place takes going to court to a fun and delicious level.  It is situated directly across from the grand and beautiful Manitowoc Courthouse.  We sat at a window booth on the pub side.  The other dining areas are more formal.  We dined when court was "out of session."  The menu was interesting and had many gluten free options.  Everything seemed to be from scratch.  We had the sundried tomato artichoke dip with chips.  It was above average.  We had their 10 year anniversarry chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger.  Both were great and on challah rolls.  We also used their Yelp $20 for $30 and a check-in free microbrew.  I will definitely be going back to try their dinner menu.  Their seafood and steaks sounded delicious.  Two microbrews, one app, and two lunch entrees was around $27 without the Yelp discount.

Behind the bar is a blown up picture of the way this place looked about 100 years ago with mustachioed owners decorating the front of it. Maize colored walls, dark green board ceilings and ductwork (except for the large copper piece above the bar), and comfortable booths surround the bar. Interesting selection of premium liquors along with a limited wine list accompany a very nice compact selection of house brews. The Christmas Ale (nice and rounded with a little tartness) went home with me but the Farmhouse Ale and Left Hand Cream Stout really stood out as well. None of the beers had a high ABV or heavy mouth feel but were complex and satisfying. The menu had a couple things on it that I tried. A perfectly done pan seared duck and cinnamon crusted pork medallions with cranberry, apple, and pecan chutney were both worth going back for. The root vegetable (potatoes, carrots, parsnips, and turnips) side was a great change from the usual suspects. Thanks to Michael (the Chicago ex-patriot) and Ryan for good food, beer, service, and conversation.

We went there for drinks and apps on a Saturday night very close to closing and we got excellent food and friendly service.  We were surprised that the bar was not busier on a Saturday night and think they should promote their bar more heavily to catch the out and about crowd.

The atmosphere and decor were very welcoming.  We had the cheese curds, which you can't get away from in Wisconsin, but they serve them with a raspberry balsamic dipping sauce that is to die for.  We also had the fried artichoke hearts and you know you can't go wrong with anything that's fried.  My husband also had the mussels and he was swooning over them the whole way through and then even though he was stuffed, he sopped up the sauce with a roll when he finished the mussels.

Can't wait to go back for a full meal the next time we're in the area.

I like the restaurant a lot in concept, but had mixed experiences.  Their menu is well thought out and the decor matches the concept of the place. The whole courthouse theme wasn't overused.

I ordered a salad and substituted chicken for the shrimp.  The salad itself was great, but the chicken was clearly precooked & microwaved.   Not only was it served less than 5 minutes after placing the order, it was small, tough and rubbery.  It was a shame because the rest of the salad was good.

We were in town to take the SS Badger across the lake.  The Pub was a short walk from our hotel.  We had a great experience.  I had the best scallops I ever tasted.  My wife had beef wellington, also delicious.  The menu has many more tasty items.  We will be back.  BTW we had super service from our server Eric.

This was the second time my wife and I visited the Courthouse Pub. The first was Labor Day weekend 2011 after we crossed Lake Michigan on the ferry on our way to Alpine Valley for a Pearl Jam concert. This time we came back with our kids on the ferry for a short vacation in Manitowoc. Both times the dining has been exceptional. This is the best place in town. We started with the hummus and pita bread, which was warm right of the kitchen.
Our son and daughter enjoyed the kids' appetizer plate -- crackers, jello and fruit -- while my wife had the house salad, which was greens, peaches and candied almonds with a light vinagrette dressing while I had the beef barley soup. Excellent. I went for the cinnamon encrusted pork with potatoes, green beans and apples. It was good but a little too "encrusted" for me but still very good. If I went back, I'd order the salmon or gnocchi, which sounded excellent. My wife had the brie chicken with a sweet balsmic glaze, which was fantastic. The kids dined on Kraft mac-n-cheese and loved it of course.
The beers change regularly. We tried the Summer Ale (too sweet), and IPA (very good, a strong bitter end). They offer a free glass of wine on Mondays. Our choice was a pinot grigio or malbec. My wife selected the grigio to complement her chicken dish. A nice touch she enjoyed. I passed.
Our server Maria was very attentive, and offered to bring the kids dinner dishes out before ours when there was small delay between the salad and soup and entrees. We accepted and then she returned with all of our dinners.
One man (the owner?) stopped by our table a few times to say hello and talk with our kids. We left our daugther's sippey cup behind and called from our hotel. They had already found it and arranged to have it available for us to pick it up the next morning. Great place. Go.

Was a bit disappointed after all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Steak was decent, not great. Same for Caesar Salad.  Cheese sampler pretty good but served ice cold, not the proper way to serve cheeses. Microbrews pretty bland. No IPA. Lagers and stout on the fizzy sweet side. Service was good and the owner is a congenial host.

Their 'sized right' option is a great concept for those with smaller appetites or watching their weight. Wish more places would try this. It may be tops in town, but 4 stars is very generous.

My husband and I visited the Courthouse Pub last weekend for a quick weekend away to Manitowoc. Considering we have never been to Manitowoc we had no idea where to go for a nice dinner. We picked up the Chamber Magazine for Manitowoc County and paged through until we found a place that sounded like something we would like. We loved it! The food, the atmosphere, the staff were all amazing.  We have been telling everyone about  our experience and can't wait to go back again someday.

Cinnamon Encrusted Pork was excellent as expected .  How do they get it so tender?  Friend had the beef Wellington.  Wow!

She goes a side of whisky butter and straw onions.  I added some of the butter to my potatoes and found that was phenomenal.  The beef was lovely as well and highly recommend.

Ok, so I have to do an update on the Courthouse Pub, after having an actual meal here.  We had reservations this time, and were seated promptly.  I got the raspberry gnocci, and my husband had a cheeseburger.  The pasta was good - I wouldn't say "great," but it was a little cold and bland.  My husband's cheeseburger was kind of underwhelming, I wouldn't say it's worth the money we paid for it.

Our server was kind of odd, and made a few off the cuff / random comments to us, that I didn't think were totally appropriate.  It was a little odd.

They still serve the beers they brew - which were good.

It's not that it was bad, or that good either way. It was really just kind of "eh." I really don't think we'll eat here again.  The combo of being underwhelmed after so much hype was a little disappointing to us.

This place is by far the best restaurant I've ever eaten at in Manitowoc. The food is wonderful. The portion sizes are perfect. The service is superb. The owner came out to greet us and make sure everything tasted good. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I am a firm believer of paying for good quality food. I was thoroughly and beyond satisfied! I plan on being back for sure the next time I'm in town.

Excellent place to grab dinner and drinks.  I prefer the bar area and always call ahead to reserve a booth there.  The appetizers are excellent and the entree's are either great or OK.

The owner is very nice!  He loves to hear your opinion on the food and if you wait too long to get your food or drinks, he will comp you!!  We had a free round of drinks last time and a received a gift certificate the time before!

Best place in Manitowoc for dinner.

Anytime I'm in Manitowoc, I make sure that I stop by the Courthouse at least once as it is my favorite place in town.  What I especially like about this place is the openness of the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff, and the casual-yet-classy feel without the slightest hint of pretentiousness.  My fiancée and I checked out the website prior to visiting and were excited to read that they have a sized-right section in their menu, which emphasizes a healthy portion size.  So instead of that huge 12-inch slab of meat, you'll get around 4-6oz size (which is what we should all be eating).

I selected the salmon filet while she had the brie chicken.  We both loved our dishes. My salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice sear, and topped with dill sauce and capers.  The accompanying wild rice was also very good.  She absolutely loved the brie chicken, if I remember correctly there was some sort of raspberry glaze that complimented the dish.  Her dish also came with wild rice and the vegetable of the day.

The service was nice, our server had a very thick UP-Michigan/northern WI accent which we found to be charming.  She kept out water levels nice and wasn't overly intrusive.  I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!

This place is Fantastic!  We were visiting Manitowoc, read the good reviews and decided to give it a try.  We were not disappointed!  Everyone was happy with their meal.  Wish I did not live so far, as I would become a regular!  My only tip would be, we went on a Saturday and they seemed to be busy you may want to make a reservation.

This is THE place to eat in Manitowoc.  Everything we have eaten there is outstanding.  Whether you want a tasty snack during the day or a fine dining experience in the evening.  John makes you feel right at home.  He will come by your table and briefly chat with you.  The wait staff know us by name and always treat us special.  It's like going to a friend's house to eat good food.  When my mother passed, we had 30 friends go to the Pub to dine and celebrate her life.  The people at the Pub made it an exceptional event.  They will always be endeared in our hearts for the wonderful way they handled the time of our sorrow.  Their in house beers are very good, not the usual watery American beers that are so common in other places.  Do yourself a favor and check them out.

We are from Illinois and found ourselves in Manitowoc for a cub scout overnight at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum across the river.  I looked on Yelp for places to eat and the Courthouse Pub was recommended.   And what a good recommendation that was.  The food was great, but even more impressive was the service.  Our waitress was very attentive, and as stated in the other reviews the owner came around to make sure everything was okay.  I may not find myself in Manitowoc soon, but when I do, I'm eating here.

I've eaten here twice in the past three years while in town for the Oshkosh AirVenture. But I definitely agree with the first two reviews. This is the best restaurant in town and was confirmed by the owner of the FBO at the airport. Superb food and good beers.

Courthouse Pub has perhaps the finest tasting and prepared food in all of Manitowoc County.  Located right across the street from the Manitowoc County Courthouse, the menu has several playful references to court room items and procedures.  This includes having your left-overs sealed with "evidence" tape.

The owner (John) is very particular (okay, maybe even fussy) and takes great pride in both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience.  The place has a very nice atmosphere with a richly adorned wood decor that gives it that classy dining feel while allowing the people that dine there to feel comfortable whether they are wearing summer casual attire or formal evening gowns.  The wait staff are very well mannered and a large part of the pleasant dining experience we find there.

The food is exquisite; prepared to perfection with some of the most delightful tasting sauces and delivered on a plate with good presentation.  Last night I had the Steer Tenderloin and it had so much flavor while the meat nearly melted in your mouth.  It was 7 ounces of pure beef heaven sitting in a pool of yellow pepper sauce.

When the owner takes the time to drift around the restaurant and check on the guests at the tables to make sure that you are having a good dining experience, that shows the degree to which he cares and maintains the quality of his entire operation.  We have been to the restaurant several times and have found John making the rounds most of those visits.

If you are looking for a nice dining experience matched with great food, this would be your place.  This facility is smoke-free throughout.
