The Cove is a dive bar in the heart of the neutral zone between Milton and Pace. Â I actually found it by serendipity, after a bad lunch at Ada's. Â
Smoke and dimness are the rule. Â Friendly folks and staff. Â The place looks like it was built 40 years ago and details for maintenance and upkeep were on the back of the 14th sheet of the business plan. Â Be that as it may, it is what it is...a dive bar.
I had a pleasant experience the one beer that I was there, bantering with the other guys (six guy customers, no females, other than the bartender) and trying to plot a strategy to get to Walmart without risking life and limb crossing traffic on Highway 90. Â The sage advice and consensus that I received was that taking Hwy. 90 was the most sensible option, because the "back way" was ridiculously out of the straight-line path to Wally World. Â I sheet you not, this was a 10-minute exposition in geography, cartography, and fuel efficiency. Â I had fun, for one beer.
This place is an eatery in about the same way that Family Dollar is an eatery. Â You can eat food inside, but it's probably not advisable and the results may have adverse consequences. Â I inquired and they have frozen pizza and corn dogs. Â They were out of their eggrolls that day, but keep the faith and maybe they'll procure some more of those. Â
And if you, like me, pull in and wonder how you were so fortunate to score rock star parking right to the left of the front door, look at the sign screwed to the building...those spots are reserved for Harley Davidsons. Â I sheet you not.
