Wonderful in every way!! We had a flat tire and were stuck in town overnight. What could have been a terrible experience actually turned into a pleasant night due to a great hotel and this restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful...so warm, friendly and accommodating. Truly made our night!!

Had a great experience at Crawdaddy's. The food was good, especially the shrimp po'boy which is as good as any I've had anywhere. The crawfish etouffee was a bit disappointing - I've had etouffee all over the country including New Orleans and this was a little too heavily seasoned. Everything else was good though and the service alone is worth going back for. Our waitress, Autumn, was on her game. She kept our drinks filled, was attentive but not overly intrusive, and we enjoyed her great personality. She asked our names and addressed us personally throughout the meal which I thought added an additional layer of great service.

Bad: 82 minutes is incredibly too long to wait to get your dinner.

Worse: "We have a table for 32 that has slammed our kitchen" is a bad response and not the customer's problem.

Good; Our server was a sweetheart and they ended up comping our dinners.

I can't say if the food was any good because, well, one can drink many beers in 82 minutes of waiting.

    Many beers.

The food was really good, the server was nice and jokey, and I could actually get something off the kids menu. That's right. There are two prices beside the kids menu items, Kids 12 And Under, and Kids 13 And Over. I. Love. This. I wish more places had this, because I tend to want chicken fingers and fries. But usually you can't get that because you're too old, so you have to get an appetizer of chicken fingers, and then order some fries and it's just too much to eat on your own. So yeah! A good price, a good portion, good food. However the bathrooms are very small, it's the one person kind and right in the middle of a dining area, so the women's bathroom has a line forming right beside your table hahah. But oh well, it was very busy, and I can see why.

Great cajun food in a small town. Love the fried green tomatoes, and fried Okra. My husband and I go here from time to time with friends and always have a good time.

This is THE place to eat in Cookeville! From awesome drinks, a friendly staff and a menu to die from, you will not be sorry for choosing Crawdaddy's. Located in the historic district in Cookeville, its very reminiscent of an old Southern home. They have two floors and we have eaten on the 2nd floor where its quiet and comforting. I love their grilled shrimp ~ nicely seasoned and plentiful ~ which comes with two sides. Everyone knows everyone here and the wait staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive!

One of my family's favorite restaurants. We are regular visitors (not that there are many similar options in Cookeville). We always start out with the goat cheese pesto, which is to die for. Even if it is just my parents and I, it is gone in no time.

There are a few menu items that I can highly recommend:
    (1) Soup and salad combo. They have a great Parmesan vinaigrette, and you cannot go wrong with their gumbo or shrimp bisque.
    (2) Shrimp Po Boy (or any of their Po Boys for that matter)
    (3) Any Burger

    Great Cookeville staple.

Wouldn't have expected such a wonderful restaurant in Cookeville TN (no offense intended to Cookvillians), especially a Cajun one. Came because of the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews and they were right! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. The goat cheese pesto appetizer was great, as was the fresh baked French bread that came with it. Having spent a lot of time in southern Louisiana, I decided on the Cajun sampler. It included crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. The red beans were lighter, and not what I would call traditional, but very delicious (and my daughter ate all of them!). The crawfish étouffée was a little darker, more like what is sometimes called crawfish stew in the area south of New Orleans, and was also delicious. The jambalaya was traditional, we took it home and it was part of a great lunch the next day. My wife had the Louisiana hot garlic shrimp, it was rich tasting, heavy on the garlic with some heat to it. It came served over rice with choice of two sides, so half the shrimp and rice also became our lunch the next day. My mom ordered the pan seared tuna. It came with 2 thick tuna medallions, cooked rare, one of which was delicious cold served over a salad the next day for lunch. If you are beginning to see a pattern, you are right, the portions were very generous. We sat inside, but there is a beautiful outdoor patio as well as an outdoor balcony off the upstairs dining room. All in all, a great dining experience!

The food here is amazing. Went with a group of 4; we all ordered different dishes, shared and raved.

The outside patio is your ideal seating area, but inside it's got a fun New Orleans vibe, complete with plantation windows.

Pros: great food, great atmosphere, decent prices (though definitely not cheap)

Cons: The patio was slammed when we were there, but there was plenty of setting outside. Appetizer came quickly, but it felt like it took our main courses a very long time to finish. Lots of plates sent outside before we were served, and a few times it felt like our drinks were forgotten because it was so much busier out back.

Tip for Crawdaddys: if you don't already, open those big beautiful windows when the weather is nice. That's how they do it in the deep south, and it might help even out your seating (and serving) needs.

Always great service. I frequent it for lunch, and dinner on occasion. By far the best grilled salmon in town.

We are passing thru so I used Yelp to find a good lunch. AWESOME. I had the steak sandwich with jack cheese and onions. It was wonderful. Heather even gave us iced tea to sip while we shopped Main Street. Great place!

I have been here several times and I love the food. The gator bites (craw-fish I believe) are very good and we order this all the time. I have also had their salads and I think once the bass. The shelled oysters are another one of my favorites.

The bar on top is more of a socializing place and the restaurant downstairs is more formal. I have hung out at the bar more than downstairs. The service at the bar is excellent and the drinks are priced right. The restaurant service really depends on who you get as your waitress. Couple of them have attitudes, but overall the waitstaff is friendly. I used to travel for my job and have eaten at literally hundreds of restaurants all over the country and some of the funnest times I have are with the service industry folks. They know how to handle people as they are dealing with people all the time. So great food and great service.

So why did I give it only three stars?

Let me put it this way.. I like this place a lot. But every time I go here... something happens that is completely out of control of the establishment itself, that I leave feeling a little miffed. The first time, one of the owners did not care for me, and then there was this time where the seating they gave me had rain dripping down,  then when I was there with a important client, the order took very long and the people who came after us got their food before we did, and when I asked the waitress to check on the food she said OK and took her own time clearing tables before she even headed towards the kitchen. But then again, there was this time this other waitress made me hot toddy or at least Seagrams and honey for my cold. So there.

Over all a very cool place. I know its the local favorite but then there are not that many restaurants in Cookeville.
As a date place, I will say that its probably a good place for a second or third date. i usually prefer a quieter spot so that we can talk.

I was hopeful having seen the reviews and knowing Cookeville is not a culinary Mecca but I was disappointed.  The service was great, Brennan made sure we had what we needed but the cook was off his game.  I ordered the sea bass and it came way overcooked, even the creamy sauce didn't save it.  I did enjoy the baked sweet potato and the fried green beans were tasty.  My husband ordered the special, a rib eye with a balsamic glaze, it, too, was overcooked.  I might try it again for lunch and try one of their fish po'boys.

    Ahhhhhmazing!!!

We stopped in this past weekend with our kids, fairly late at night, and they were so accommodating! We recently drove from Texas to Maryland and wanted something other than fast food or a greasy pancake house so good old Yelp led the way to this local place.

The service was awesome- our server (a blonde lady, very nice! Sorry I forgot her name) was so great with the kids. She kept taking our 1-year old, who is in a screeching phase right now, and walking around with him. It was so nice. We tried to keep our kids very quiet for the other diners, especially because it was later in the evening and date night time. She was such a huge help with this too! (As was the iPhone and Netflix combo) She was so polite and friendly, I was so grateful that she was welcoming even though we showed up with two young children at 9 at night!! She let us sit on the patio, which was beautifully lit with strings of lights and there were Mardi Gras beads hanging from the tree- my older son loved that!

We started with the goat cheese and pesto dip appetizer, and holy cow this was fantastic! It was served with a perfect loaf of french bread (Louisana french bread?thinly sliced and just right) She brought out the kids' dinner as soon as it was ready- grilled cheese, cheesy noodles, and fries. I want that cheesy noodle recipe- it was awesome! The kids loved it! My husband and I decided it was worth it to order the food we actually wanted, not necessarily the food we had time for, but they were able to bring it out in a reasonable amount of time, which was great.

I had the bleu cheese stuffed, bacon-wrapped filet with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and fried green beans. This was all incredible! The steak was absolutely perfect, the potatoes were flavored and mashed just right, and the seasoning on the green beans was awesome!! WHAT was it?? I don't know, but it was slightly spicy and had such a great flavor. My husband had the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and cheesy grits, and he was in heaven! We were already full but thanks to Yelp, we read that the creme brûlée was amazing. As it is my favorite dessert, we had to try it! It was also perfect. Oh and my husband's Arnold Palmer was perfect too- he loves them and he was very impressed with this one!

I hope we can drive to/through Tennessee again, and if we do, we will definitely stop by! I am so glad we decided to go off the beaten path a little bit, this restaurant was amazing... maybe hubby and I can take a romantic weekend away and stay in this cute town. :)

Great food and great service! Love the Creole flavors, and the Creme Brulee is the best!

Great Cajun food outside of New Orleans. The atmosphere gives one the sense of being on Bourbon St and addsto the experience. The food was great. I had the cajun sampler , jambalaya, red beans & rice and crab etouffe. Almost too much food to eat. My wife was concerned about too much spice, but she found the crab cakes excellent. A friend had the cheese stuffed filet which was also excellent. Did not think I would find such a place in Cookeville. The $5.00 per shot sampler of local, top shelf single barrel whiskeys were not bad either. Hope I can find these in my local beverage store in CA. My wife who is somewhat of a creme brulee connosieur said Crawdaddy's was one of the best she has had. All around great dining experience.

This is the only "New Orleans-style" restaurant in Cookeville, but it's the only one they need. I have never got anything from here that I didnt like. My favorite are the aligator bites. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a plus

It was all the little things that made my meal at Crawdaddy's enjoyable - the presentation of my citrus salmon plate, the grilled asparagus, the local beers on tap, the extra-friendly bartender, the second-story bar. Somehow all the New Orleans memorabilia including the "stolen" Saints Super Bowl all seemed to fit in well. And yeah, delicious food. If I end up back in Cookeville more will be spending a lot more time here I think...

Forego the chains on Interstate Drive and head to high street. There is a pretty courtyard and balcony to eat out and elegant space within. Upstairs the bar takes up 1/2 the room, which in this case works just fine....this is where you'll find the locals!

The food is fabulous - try the sea bass with lemon basil sauce or the fried green BLT! The brunch menu is nothing special - my one complaint, but they have a mini-jazz band playing in the courtyard so it is still a great experience! (And unique for Cookeville where you don't generally see business owners thinking this creatively.)

Staff is an A+ for friendliness and attitude, but a B for knowing the menu and being able to make recommendations. When asked what was special about the New Orleans-style French toast our server said, it is French toast New Orleans-style. (?) Then she just said it is regular French Toast. She also couldn't describe the special, which was delicious anyway (think NO-style fried green tomatoes eggs Benedict, yummmm!)

We used Yelp to find a good dinner in Cookeville while we were staying in town for the Muddy Roots Music Festival. We weren't disappointed. The place is nice and if it hadn't been raining it would have nice to sit outside. We sat upstairs in a nice room with good lighting. We got the pesto/goat cheese appetizer and the popcorn shrimp/crawfish app - both were good. The pulled pork gumbo was excellent. The shrimp and grits was tasty, but the presentation was a bit odd since the "sauce" seemed to be just an oil. The others liked their meals and the service was good too. A great choice in town.

Great atmosphere! Had lunch here yesterday, 5/28/11, and sat outside. We ordered the shrimp bayou dip for an appetizer and it started our meal off great.  It was creamy and full of flavor served with some Cajun flavored chips...perfect combination.  Patio was shaded and service was attentive and friendly.

I ordered the crab cakes with the fried green beans and Cajun fries and my husband had the catfish poor boy.  Both were fantastic.  Crab cakes were cooked perfectly....some of the best is have ever had.

Very fun, friendly place with excellent food and service.

Crawdaddy's. One of the nicer dining options in Cookeville. If you're looking for a nice, relaxed night out, this is the place for you. Romantic lighting and earth tones make this a great date restaurant. You can choose from seating outside, inside, or upstairs near the bar.

The Cajun inspired menu varies from the classic hamburger entree to a sophisticated goat cheese dip appetizer.

I've been here twice now, and the first time I ordered the Shrimp Bisque (tasty), and the second time I ordered the best-selling dish: Citrus-Glazed Salmon topped with goat cheese and sides of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. It tastes as savory as it sounds.

The food is great, but the service can be slower than molasses. Do not come here if you are in a hurry.

We grabbed a quick lunch here while working out of town. We didn't expect anything other than regular sandwich shop fares but this place caught us off guard! I had the lunch special Tilapia which had amazing flavors completely cooked through the tender fillet. My coworker had shrimp and grits. All of us scraped our plates clean. The restaurant seemed to be quite busy for lunch, but service was quick and attentive.

For a first visit I give it 4.5 stars! Highly recommended for anyone driving through town!

We had a delightful lunch here.  The luncheon specials on the back of hte menu were just right for what we wanted to eat while traveling through town and for the portion size very good value.  The weather was just right for enjoying the patio rather than eating indoors.  Our waitress paid just the right amount of attention to us.

Don't let the name fool you, this is a very nice restaurant located in downtown Cookeville.  I expected some type of casual crab shack, but in jeans and a t-shirt, I almost felt under-dressed here.

I ordered the chicken alfredo, and my boyfriend had the ribeye.  The alfredo sauce was some of the best I have ever had!  We ate outside on the patio, which had a nice atmosphere as well.

Overall, it is higher priced than other Cookeville-area restaurants, but well worth it in taste.

The King of Wings... I know, it's an appetizer here, but this is why we came.  Directed here from the TTU Basketball Camp, a bus driver recommended the place because we were searching for hot wings.

What we got were the biggest, most delicious wings I've had in years.  When we were there, the wings were HUGE!   I'm not usually a fan of blue cheese dressing, but even this won me over.

We sat upstairs in the outdoor area and it was great for a summer visit.

Simpson's, I mean simply put.... "Best.  Wings.  Ever."
