Really nice creek setting - too bad they insist on blasting really bad music (sounds like Las Vegas through the ears of one with a bad hangover, and from an off-strip dive-casino) accross the entire outside seating area at painful decibels.

I didn't want  to  give this place one star, but had to in order to post this review. A group of us stopped in on the 4th of July, the restaurant  was slammed. It took awhile to get  our order taken. That was fine and not our complaint.  We were all starving and managing to be patient. Out of the 7 of us, 6 ordered burgers.  When they  finally came they were the WORST burgers ever, ALL of us complained about the CHUNKS, not small pieces of gristle  CHUNKS in every bit.  We made a comment to the waitress about the burgers and she seemed surprised and said 'it must be because we were so busy today".  We were perplexed not sure what the two, Gristle CHUNKS and Being Busy, had to do with each other...grossed out on the fourth.

Hands down best outside bar and atmosphere in SLO!

We were looking for a great outdoor space for a casual wedding rehearsal dinner. We loved the back patio and relaxed atmosphere of the Creeky Tiki! We had about 100 people for our rehearsal dinner and they accommodated us wonderfully! We did simple pizzas and salads and an open bar. The owners were incredibly sweet and checked on us regularly to make sure we were all okay. The salads were excellent and pizza was surprisingly good, considering they had to bake them super fast to feed our 100 guests! Everyone had a great time and loved the patio. We would definitely recommend Creeky Tiki for a private party. It's the perfect outdoor spot in SLO!

I'm pleasantly surprised by the wonderful pizza and salad I recently enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the creek. It's a great place to sit outside and enjoy a drink, or grab a bite to eat.

This place is not good. It was so crowded that you couldn't even walk around. We went to the bar and ordered tequila shots. The bartender poured huge huge huge shots and didn't give us limes. I asked her for limes and she said sure one minute. A few minutes go by, she pours other people drinks and I ask her another time if I could please have a lime. She finally gives us an empty water pitcher with sliced, squashed lemons in it and tells us they are out of limes. I get this is a college bar, but service should never be THIS bad.

Coming from the land of tiki bars, Florida, I wasn't sure what to expect, but my friend had been here before and said it was great and a must-stop. This was our first stop after getting off the plane! I was immediately in love with the outdoor setting, right on the creek, with the SLO mission on the other bank. There was an acoustic duo playing and we sat ourselves at the bar, as all other seats by the creek were taken. I was not disappointed. the bartender was very friendly and the owner came out and chatted with us for a while as well. I'm very much a believer in people making or breaking the experience, so this group definitely gets 5 stars for their welcoming and friendly nature. We were enjoying ourselves so much, that my friend ran back to the car to put more money in the meter. The owner spent some time in Ft. Lauderdale back in the day and so he knows what it takes to create the tiki atmosphere and he definitely slam dunked it! I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area!

Don't let the reviews about this place being a college bar scare you off. It is very well run and the food is delicious. We held an event for 80 last year on the patio (okay, there were college kids, but still don't let that scare you) and it was awesome. They created custom drink specials and the food was awesome. It was so good, we are having our banquet there again. This time we are doing Tiki bowls and Tuna on Fire, which is seared ahi in a sort of rice bowl with a spicy sauce. The burgers are amazing. Grass-fed beef and on homemade buns ($6.95-8.50). Another favorite is the tuna poke ($13.95). It's an appetizer, but I like it as an entree- delicious. They have the awesome surfer decor and rock the reggae music in the background, it's just a fun place for all ages.

I went to SLO on a mini-vacatio from the Bay Area, and around 4PM on Sunday, My boyfriend and i stumbled across this place while walking in downtown SLO.  I immediately loved the "tiki" bar ambiance and were greeted by three different people, all friendly and nice.

We asked to sit outside and once we were brought to the seating area, we saw that it was right next to the creek.  We spend an hour sitting under the sun, admiring the SLO mission and the creek. The environment was the best part of our experience. The mai tais that we ordered were a bit pricey ($11?..yikes!), thus a reason for my 3 stars. It's definitely a place you should check out, but hopefully you can go there during a happy hour and enjoy the ambiance without having to spend so much.

My wife and I recently ate here and we loved it.
I spoke with one of the managers who told me that the menu/chef was recently changed...our compliments to the new chef.   We had the tuna on fire - great chunks of ahi with well prepared rice and sriracha sauce and fish tacos with nice clean wahoo meat.  Both were great left us full but not feeling bloated like most bar food.

Great selection of Firestone Walker beers on draught, friendly atmosphere, AWESOME surf memorabilia on the walls - just ask if the manager Michael is working he can give you information on all the signed surfboards (Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, Tom Curren etc) and old flyers/magazine covers passed down from his father.

Can't ask for much more out of a college town bar than clean food, great beers, lots of tv's and cool stuff on the walls

Super inviting & perfect outdoor seating. Great bar food & a large variety & selection from the bar.

**Note, on a busy weekend or game day, don't expect the kitchen to have a quick turn around time**

came to SLO for the first time with diana c. on our roadtrip back from santa barbara beach camping and stopped here for lunch. i know this is going to sound weird, but i LOVE their bathrooms. i can't speak for the men's room, but the women's restroom is painted blue and filled with handwritten quotes. i may or may not have spent a good amount of time in the restroom just reading them.

the food was a-ok, just like the review says. i got nachos because, i always get nachos and i picked off the best parts and left a lot of chips - also like i always do. :P we got to sit outdoors and because we were one of only two groups of people due to the time of day, we got waited on very efficiently and the servers were exceptionally friendly, not to mention cute :)

After drinking in the SLO wineries all day long, this was a great stop to just chill out at and keep drinking. Wasn't sure how well Cadillac margaritas would mix with all the wine I had been consuming all day, but surprisingly it went well. The drinks were good, I was only drinking Cadillacs so I have no idea how well made their other drinks are.

The staff was friendly, and I never waited too long for a drink. The atmosphere is great, plenty of room and tables inside, and a large patio overlooking the creek in the back outside with another bar. They had live music too which was great; I always enjoy that. It's also fun to watch all the Cal Poly kids drink and fall off the stools.

For the first time in history, I was able to eat something not only delicious but healthy at the Mid State Fair in Paso Robles.  I was delighted to find a Creeky Tiki booth on our way to the Earth, Wind and Fire Concert Friday night.  We had just experienced our first happy hour at Creeky Tiki in San Luis Obispo a couple weeks earlier.  The pina coladas and fish tacos were super good.   At the fair booth, I had a grilled Mahi Mahi bowl with cabbage and lime cilantro rice.  It was fabulous!   (don't forget to ask for a side of their chipotle sauce, flavorful!).

As it's name suggests, this bar and grill is situated on the San Luis Obispo Creek and offers up some delicious island fare. One of Creeky Tiki's big selling points is cheap drinks for those boozing on a budget. An ice-cold pina colada, margarita or long island will cost you only $3.50 a pop during Happy Hour (3-7p.m. Monday - Friday).

Sample the endless flavor of their signature SLO fish tacos ($6.95) made with pan-seared mahi mahi, shredded cabbage, cilantro and a house-made creamy cilantro sauce (served with lime wedges and a side of black beans) or indulge in one of their beloved burgers. I had the burly Sunset Burger, which comes with bacon, onion rings, cheddar cheese and a killer BBQ sauce ($6.75). We also threw in a cheese pizza and a basket of sweet potato fries for only $3.50 each. All this food, along with a couple of refreshing pina coladas, came to $35.00 (tip included).

Creeky Tiki offers a nice array of menu items. Gourmet salads (salmon, raspberry, seared scallop, cobb, ceasar), seafood items (coconut shrimp, crab cakes, fish and chips and fish tacos), burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, sides and more.

They have specials every night of the week, including Tiki Twosdays -- $2 tacos, pizzas, 2 for 1 well drinks and drafts. Head to Creeky's if you're looking to score some great food and drink specials.

I had the best time at the Creeky Tiki Friday night. Brad and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. We got there around 6:00 pm and the outdoor seating was full. They actually moved a table outside for us so we could enjoy the music and good weather. The margaritas were delicious. We ordered them by the pitcher. The pizza was really good too! I didn't try the nachos, but I saw other people eating them and they looked amazing... I'm definitely ordering nachos next time!

I've always gone to Frog and Peach when I want to go to a casual downtown bar. I'm so glad I found a friendlier and cleaner downtown bar. I'm sure we will be back often!

Food is surprisingly good (didn't expect much from a Tiki Bar) even if they don't offer much in the way of "island" fare. The drink s were a bit high, even at happy hour, but it's also likely a high-rent area. The place was clean, service was good and we had a great view of the active street. All-in-all this one makes the list of places to return to.

This place automatically gets a thumbs up for being a tiki bar because I'm obsessed with them! I hit them up wherever I travel. The decor is super cool and love the surfboards that are on the wall. I really also liked that they had TVs to watch sports (although they are a little high and gave me a crick in my neck).

However, what I did not enjoy was the customer service. The bartenders were not very attentive and sincerely did not seem like they enjoyed their jobs. I felt like I was putting them out whenever I asked for a drink.

The only thing we ordered to eat was french fries and they were decent.

There was an interesting crowd at this bar on a Friday afternoon. There were families, college kids, old men... and to top it all off, there was tacky tiki decor.

Despite all that, the drinks were good, and the bartender was friendly. He struck up a conversation with us four girls. We had several of those margarita drinks with a trio of citrus: lemons, lime, oranges. The citrus-ness helped cut down the sweetness of the usual margarita. They were also only $4 each!

Beware of the Happiest Happy Hour

Stopped in to the Creeky Tiki last night, hadn't been there since right after they opened.  They offer the "Happiest" of happy hours, including $3 drafts.   My friend and I both ordered draft beer, even from the same brewery.  I ordered Union Jack, she ordered 805.  When the bill came, my beer was somehow $6 while hers was $3.  No where on the menu, or in our discussions with the waitress was a distinction ever mentioned.  It wasn't the money, it was the principle.

Slooooooow service and mediocre food. I'd pass on this place unless you just get drinks and enjoy waiting forever to flag down your waiter/bartender.

I love the vibe of this bar and the happy hour beer specials. I have ate here twice now and the food was not good at all. I ordered the fish tacos and it was like they had a can of albacore tuna in the back and used that! My little brother can make better tacos then that! My friend ordered the pesto sandwich and he said it was really dry! So if your looking for a place with just good drink specials and good looking girls...go here :) but skip dinner and appetizers!

Good happy hour, always okay when drinks are cheap.  The food is okay, i liked the nachos, except we asked for no sour cream and had to send them back once (after it took forever to get them) because there was a sheet of sour cream covering the top.
The next time I was here, I ordered fish and chips expecting some delicious fish fried up next to my fries.  What came out was an extreme embarrassment to fish.  It was tiny little shapes of fish which obviously came out of a freezer.  I expect being so close to the coast, they could make some descent fish and chips.  The fries were just okay, obviously frozen as well.  It was a much to small serving, at least if they're going to feed you that crap they should give you enough to fill you up.
Obviously a place for the college crowd.  But if you want anything besides good happy hour, I'd go elsewhere for some edible food.

Popped in here on a Friday evening. It's like being on a Carnival Cruise Ship after a late sail from Mexico. Lots of middle aged drunk honkies in brightly coloured clothing, singing or stumbling around while clutching an exotic beverage.

    I fit right in.

I visited Creeky Tiki this evening with some friends. It was pretty crowded, but I expected this since since SLO Farmer's Market was in full swing and there was some sort of wine festival at the Mission.

The prices are pretty typical for a bar/grill joint, just under $10 for a decent size burger [avocado bacon cheese burger] and a basket of seasoned fries. The fries were pretty good. The burger wasn't bad, but it certainly left something to be desired...

The burger showed up astonishingly quick. The meat was a little dry and the veggies (tomatoes and lettuce) seemed sorta cheap. I have a sneaking suspicion the patty had been grilled long before we arrived/ordered and had been waiting under a heat lamp or something. It sorta reminded me of the frozen patties you buy at Costco and use for a company BBQ.

So the food was average, but the atmosphere is really nice. It was a little noisy, but that's expected for this sort of place. The patio area is large with lots of seating and a nice view of the Mission and the "SLO riverwalk." They have a bunch of those gas heaters which make it pleasant even on a cold evening. There are several bars, including one out on the patio--never waited long for drinks even though there seemed like a lot of people.

All in all, I'd recommend this place for its atmosphere if not its food.

I came here twice and both times it was loud and annoying to be inside. The bartending staff is obviously new. It looks like they hired the prettiest girls willing to work here, and didn't care if they knew how to tend the bar correctly. The food is the same food they had at the old Creeky Tiki, back in the Network, which was average at best. I get that they're trying to be a cheesy sports bar, but it doesn't have to be so cliche. The whole island theme just seems so 1985 to me. I would recommend Firestone's for a better place to grab a drink and watch a game.

They have a theme for every night with drink and food specials & entertainment (7-10pm).
    Maholo Mondays
    Tiki Tuesdays
    Wine Down Wednesdays
    Country/Classic Rock Thursdays
    Freaky Tiki Fridays
    8 Trax Saturdays
    Industry & Salon Sunday Nights

& Build your own Saturday & Sunday Breakfast (burritos and bloody mary's)

With so much happening, its fun every night!

We stopped on a Sunday afternoon to watch the game and grab some lunch. I was immediately impressed with the ambience of the place. A relaxed atmosphere with six TVs positioned around the bar.  It was the opening week of the new location and someone I assume was the owner was going around making sure everyone was happy.

I ordered the ahi tacos and my wife ordered the cheeseburger. We decided to share an order of fries. While waiting for our food, we watched SLO from our table while six games played at once. Now this is nirvana!

... which is a good thing because it took forever for our food to come. We were very easy going about it and didn't complain. Our waitress came up to us twice to apologize and assure us our food was coming. I  didn't mind because it was  the second day it had been open and the bugs were still being worked out. Besides, like I said, it's a great place to hang out.

When our food did come, I was immediately disappointed in my fish tacos. We're talking two flour tortillas with a very small amount of ahi, guacamole and cilantro. I ate both in minutes and was still hungry.  Not worth the price. The cheeseburger was good but the fries were undercooked. All in all, a so so experience.

I'll cut them slack for still working the kinks out. We'll give them another try soon.

Does a Creeky Tiki make creaking noises?

Apparently not... It's just a beach-themed restaurant located next to a creek. (According to other Yelp reviews, that is.)

Came here on my way down to Santa Barbara.

Fish Tacos. Ahi tuna with lettuce, cilantro, guacamole and lime wrapped in a flour tortilla. Reminded me of the sisig tacos from yummy food trucks in SF that I'm so very fond of. LOVES! They were really yummy though, I would come back all the way from NorCal just for these if those food trucks didn't exist, but maybe the next time I'm on my way to Santa Barbara.

Kitchen Sink Pizza. Small Pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage, Onions, Peppers, Mushrooms and Olives. YUMS! One of the best pizzas I've ever had! The toppings were super fresh and really yummy. Too bad I was so full, otherwise I would have eaten another slice. I want to try another one of their pizzas!

Mushroom Veggie Burger. My sis ordered this but I had a bite of the patty. It was pretty good, tasted like a homemade patty and not one of those frozen ones you get at the store. It actually tasted a bit like a potato cake too, but I don't know if my taste buds were being weird since I just had a tiny bit of it.

Tiki Burger. House beef burger. My dad ordered this so I had a tiny bite of it as well. The beef patty was pretty good, a little on the dry side though but I could easily tell that it was charcoal grilled because it had that distinct fragrance of charcoal on it. I wish there was a choice to have it grilled to medium rather than well done because it would have made for a juicier more fragrant burger, but I do understand that it could have been a health standard issue. Sadly though I must admit that I have had not necessarily better tasting but juicier burgers.

The Creeky Tiki Bar & Grill (attached to the Creeky Tiki Restaurant, sharing the same awesome patio) just opened the week of Thanksgiving!  This place is fantastic!  It has amazing glass front doors and windows that look out on Higuera Street, so it's a great place to go people watch or meet up with friends.  The bar also has any drink you could imagine....the drink options they offer are endless!  The bar has a caribbean, beachy feel inside and is very relaxed and chill...everyone working there seemed really friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs.  We went in there a couple nights ago and the place was PACKED!  I think it's definitely going to become a major hotspot on the SLO scene :)

We tried the pizza and it was amazing.....great sauce, just enough spiciness!  We also had the sweet potato fries, which are always a favorite.  Overall we had a great time just eating and people watching there, and are looking forward to all this place will have in store.  It looks like they're going to have specials every night from 7 PM - close (in addition to their daily Happy Hour specials), so I'm sure we'll be going back to take advantage of those!  This is definitely a place we're going to hit every time we're in town.
