Crosswoods Restaurant & Sports Club

I really enjoy this place.  The food varies, depending on who is cooking.  But that said, I have been probably 30-40 times, and only had one overcooked steak, and I like them rare.  As a matter of fact, it is the only place in Johnson county I would order a steak.  I have been to the facility where their steaks are cut, and it is a great facility.  I am a retired chef, and know that the best way to judge a cook at a dive, is by how well they prepare a steak, or fish.  I will give them 4 stars on a steak, but can not comment on the fish, or other fare, as I always eat the steak.  Ask if Joe is cooking, and if so, prepare for a perfectly cooked steak, and great sides.  I recommend the grilled squash.
     I also can't comment on the mixed drinks, as I always have bourbon neat, but they have never shorted me on my Makers Mark, though that is the only really good bourbon they carry.   Their beer selection leaves a bit to be desired.  
     The place is well ventilated, so unless you are very sensitive to smoke, or sit right next to a smoker, I think you will be fine.  I enjoy a fine cigar after a meal, but I move out of the dining area, as I would not want to offend other diners.  

This place is one of the best places to enjoy a great steak, in a fun atmosphere in a 3 county area, and I hope to see you there, on my next visit.  And no I do not work there, and will never work there.   But I am there anytime I want a great steak, and don't want to cook.

Now Now, don't get too excited!  I mean five stars are for being the only place to get a cocktail with 25 minutes of our hotel....so that alone is five star material!  

But I will have to say, the first night we went (yes, I went two nights in a row), the service was fantastic!  Great waitress and great bartender.  My new kick is whiskey and ginger ale.  The bar didn't have actual ginger ale, but he made a great little concoction that was spot on!  

We both ordered the steak dinner and again the first night, it was prefect!  The veggies were grilled and the steak was perfectly cooked.  The second night we were not as lucky, but still good!

They have a full menu with burgers, seafood (although it is Arkansas...), steaks, and salads.  They also have a full bar, beers, and buckets.  This is a dive kids...but in every good sense of the word!  This is a dry county, so you do have to join the club, but who wouldn't want to!?!?

They also have huge T.V.'s, a few pool tables, and a stage for those karaoke stars!  I am thinking this place is hoppin' on a Saturday night!

I do have one small complaint...the smoking!  I am praying for the day I can eat and drink anywhere, and not smell like an ashtray when I get home!
