Waited for over an hour last summer with our son. Â They kept telling us - just five minutes, just five minutes - same thing half an hour later, and an hour later. Â Just tell your customer it's an hour wait. Â The food is over-sauced extremely basic Italian. Â Not worth the long wait.
Review Source:Maybe some of the menu is as good as Cucina Antica seems to think it is, but we tried a couple of basics and were disappointed. The bland pizza dough might have been recently defrosted. The pasta was fresh, but clumpy. The meatballs were large and boring. The sauce was based on uncooked tomatoes, but insufficiently spiced (and probably should have been stirred more frequently). One of the two parties of friends we saw there recommended the Nutella cake. It might have been yummy warm; fresh from the fridge left us cold, and didn't really taste like Nutella.
The cook stopped by to check in, and we gave him thumbs up. When he'd gone, my eight-year-old companion said, "It's good but not great."
That's all you need to know.
Came here on a recommendation from a good family friend. Â Thank goodness we listened!! LOVED IT. Great for a date night!!! Hesitant to even give it such a good review because I want to keep it a secret, but that isn't fair to them at all.
I had the homemade linguine with scallops... there were also fresh grape tomatoes and capers in the pasta. Â It was perfectly garlicky and yummy.
Portions are not too big and not too small. I finished and was full, but not overly so. Â My companion got the surf and turf special... filet mignon and a giant scallop on top with fiddleheads and scalloped potatoes. Â Had some of everything... all cooked very well (and the meat as requested). Â The prices are moderate, but the quality of the food is really high so I considered it a really good deal.
Our waitress was really nice and gave us the perfect amount of attention and answered our questions. Â It is really upscale food but you can tell that everyone is welcome (there were simultaneously two groups of 8-10 people in this small restaurant! Lots of kids but not a problem). Â There is even a special area for kids with 3 chalkboard walls to keep busy at so they don't get bored.
We NEVER get dessert, and here, we got TWO. Â Myself, a cannoli (can't go wrong) and my companion the salted caramel cake. Â OH MAN. I want that every day of my life, but I'm glad I can't have it.
Almost forgot! The Chef came over to our table to ask how our meal was... really lovely.
Can't wait to go back!
Chef William has created a fun family place with delicious homey Italian cuisine. Casual and cosey, with local beer on tap, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Â Pizzas baked with their own in-house crust, plus a whole wheat crust option. Â Good ravioli specials. Â And the wait staff is very friendly.
