Who says you can't get awesome seafood in the mountains?! This place is absolutely awesome... Louisiana style dishes, and the food is top notch!! We had Monday night dinner here, and it was fairly empty. Service was super prompt. Our server was very cool, friendly, and a big help picking out delicious dishes. Fabulous Oysters Rockefeller to start. Yum! For dinner I got "Seafood Napoleon" which is layered crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, covered in blue crab sauce and topped with a couple grilled shrimps. OMG delicious! Wonderful flavor! The crab cakes are delicious and the sauce is so creamy with crab meat chunks. Hubby got the ribeye with shrimp scampi topping - delicious steak, perfectly cooked, and the scampi butter adds even more awesome flavor! Plus the mashed potatoes are awesome!! For dessert we had to try the bread pudding - mmmmm! The creamy sauce they put over it is a perfect compliment to the warm bread pudding!
So just to give more details on the restaurant... It's located downstairs; hence the name. They have a decent amount of seating and a bar area. The menu spans from Louisiana Bayou dishes, to salads, to sandwiches like PoBoys, to pasta, to steak and seafood. I must say the seafood dishes they serve are far superior to other places in Hendo that claim to be Seafood restaurants. We were very impressed with this place and will return anytime the seafood cravings hit us. 5 stars!!
Really disappointed with the Cypress Cellar lately. Food is quite good, but service is horrendous.
You can be standing there for 5-10 minutes before anyone even shows up to greet you and seat you at a table. Then, once you are seated, it can be another 5-10 minutes for a server to show up, another 5-10 minutes before you get drinks, and 10-15 minutes before your order is taken. Then it can be 30-45 minutes for your food to arrive.
Either they are seriously understaffed or they don't understand customer service. If this was just a single instance I would dismiss it, but this has been three times in a row now. They really tried our patience, but then would show up just in the nick of time as we were seriously contemplating getting up and leaving. Great food if you are VERY patient ... and I mean VERY VERY patient!
Had the blue crab dip and fried green tomatoes as appetizers-both excellent. Dinner included mahi mahi and stuffed shrimp and both were excellent. If your super hungry the stuffed shrimp may leave you hungry. Good sweet potato chips. Service was also very good and we  will certainly eat here again when in the Hendersonville area. Overall, darn good!!!
