Ever since I first tried the Dairy Bar, it remains a must-stop for me every time I go camping at nearby Copper Breaks State Park.  I have to confess that I have a very limited knowledge of everything on the menu.  This is because what I get is so good I can't ~not~ get it when I'm there.  My order is a double-cheeseburger with jalapenos and a chocolate Blue Bell shake, sometimes with french fries.  It's just an awesome homemade burger with fresh ingredients and a toasted bun, the kind you only find at a mom-and-pop shop, and almost never find in the city nowadays.  The contrast of the hot juicy burger with jalapenos and the Blue Bell shake is heavenly.  The fries are real home-cut fries like I remember enjoying as a kid.  Nothing is worse than a hangover when you are camping and the Dairy Bar has cured that on more than one occasion for me.

One thing to remember, Crowell is your typical Texas small town, which means that many things in town, including the Dairy Bar, are closed on Sunday.

Thanks to Lance's family and their ranch in Crowell, I have been able to shove my face full of what the dairy bar has to offer...and that is greasy greasy goodness.

Burgers? Only one of the best you will ever have. So big, juicy, fresh toppings, buttered and toasted bun.....always leaves you with that little greasy spot on your shirt and the belly that is thanking you with happy rumbles.

Fries? Only the home cut REAL french fires...no frozen tators here, no sir....perfectly cooked and salted for your burger accompaniment :)

Chicken Fried Steak? Only legendary. Big-as-yo-face and covered in gravy...home cooked in their own batter that is flaky and soggy at the same time...How do they do it? Fold that sucker up and stick it on a bun with lettuce, tomato and mayo...and you have their chicken fried steak sammich that only a sumo wrestler could finish (well...him and Lance). The only thing about it is that it was so big and juicy, the texas toast it was on couldn't hold up....need to find some superhuman bread to hold all that goodness.

Now...my favorite thing....and this may shock you...their side salad. I know....I know...it's so weird....and Lance's BIL shares this addiction to this tiny little oddity that I crave like no other. "Whats in it?!?!?" you ask.......It's simple. Lettuce. Diced fresh cold tomatoes. Thinly shredded cheddar cheese. Ranch dressing. That's. It. Yet somehow they put crack in it to, because I dream about that little salad at least once a week.

All the above, plus add hometown crowd and friendliness...and you have the epitome of southern living. I love that place.....bring me salad!
