  Over the years, I have come to love this place.  
  Every time I go in, it's like I've never been there, new faces, same bartender, a few old timers who used to frequent another watering hole, are at DeBorba's these days.

  Gottta love this place.  No frills, just good people and good drinks in mason jars (love that!) and every so often there is good BBQ by The BBQ Dude.

  This is a quiet ole dive bar.  Nothing more.  There's always a few locals to chat with, but it's never crowded.  Most of the bartenders are pretty cool.  
  
  Out of all the Novato bars (Binyards, Moylans, Viking, Finnegans) this is my favorite for a good time.

  After my second stop in De Borba's, I can now understand why my sister likes it so much, but it still isn't my place. There is a healthy after work crowd, however I can't get over how loud it gets in there. The bartender was great, and when we ordered take away from the restaurant down the block, she put in with us and we all enjoyed our meals at the bar. By 9, the place was dead without signs of coming back. Definitely a daytime drinkers bar, not so much for the night life. Considering it is in Novato, I can't blame them.

  If you need a little dose of friendly in a cruel, scheming world, helped along with some appropriate beverage, go to De Borba's.
  
  One must understand this place to appreciate it.  It's one of the oldest continuously operating bars in north county.  It's not a scene, never too crowded, the floors are a little uneven, and the only thing that's fancy is the jukebox.  
  
  The wonderful thing about it is that the folks in there are friendly, real, regular, slightly imperfect, good folks.  Nobody's sizing you up, nobody's asking what you do for a living, and people are happy to see you when you walk in.  It is the VERY BEST place to go when you are having a rough day and just want to be around people who aren't going to try to fix you, judge you, or view you as a potential opportunity.  
  
  There's a funny little pass-through to Mary's next door, if you suddenly need a crepe with Nutella to help things along.

  This place gets knocked down one star for lacking darts (like Viking).
  
  Alternatively, if you want a dive bar, DeBorba's is fine to stagger into after Viking, or Brown's Binyard).
