My friends and I came to see CrashKill Six. Awesome band! They told me to go to <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fkickstarter.crashkillsix.com&s=dbd3da076ca2df2465ca0e56726350624857a1b7e1eb1053a920488dd1197890" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://kickstarter.crash…</a> and help them out. Super friendly band, and the opening act was great too.
Deadhorse had a great layout with the mainstage to the side, with pool tables and plenty of mingling space. Bathrooms need stall doors, but only emergency dumps are necessary.
I'll be back for sure as the people watching experience is great.
The Deadhorse is rock bar with live music, cheap drinks, and filled with tattooed patrons. Â I never really feel like I've gotta live up to having a couple of tattoo sleeves to not be looked at funny. Â I usually only hit the place up when a band I like is playing, but have gone occasionally when out and about downtown. Â The pints seem to be $2 every time I go which I can't complain about and the service to get them has always been decent. Â The crazies might come out when certain bands are playing so watch out in the front row. Â I wanna see some variety in our bars downtown and this place brings it.
Review Source:I've been playing on and off in bands for over 15 years. I've been working in live music venues for over 20 years now. I have to say that The Deadhorse is truly a diamond in the rough. I wish this place would have been around when I was in a band. Rex and Lanie run a great business. The vibe, for a Rock Club, is top notch. If the music is too loud and the bikes are revved up a little too much, this place is not for you. But this place just isn't a rock bar. They have all types of bands perform there. There drink prices are as affordable as anyone else's. This is by far the best venue I have seen in West Texas and it's one of the best small live music venues I've ever been too. San Angelo is lucky to have a place like this one. Great job guys!!!!
Review Source:This place is seriously hyped up. Â It's a "rock" bar, with occasional rock bands. Â I won't lie, their drink specials are nice - dollar domestics, and if you like watery, fizzy, weak domestic beers, then that's probably enough to make you happy, since you have no idea what real beer tastes like. Â Granted, all of west Texas has similar beer specials, so their "specials" are absolutely nothing special. Â Budweiser is cheap beer, so if it's sold for a cheap price, is it really even a special? Â But I digress. Â We have experienced disturbing things here. Â On a night where we purchased almost 20 beers -so they're obviously getting a profit - on that night, at 1:45AM, their bouncers will literally grab the beer out of your hand and throw it away - while you are in the middle of drinking your beer/drink. Â If you complain that they just wasted your drink, their douchebag bouncer just ignores you completely. Â In Texas, a place known for it's manners. Â They play mediocre bands on a regular basis, which is nice, but once the band is done, they turn their stereo on. Â I understand that it's normal for loud music to be played at a bar. Â But their music is so loud that you have to yell just to communicate with someone sitting 1 foot away from you. Â Far too loud for enjoyment. Â And then, when it's time to leave, you're all happy with your significant other and whatnot... Â Oh no, sorry. Â A bunchy of Harley guys need to compensate for their tiny penises by revving their bikes up deafeningly loud for a long period of time. Â I have a loud bike, with a custom harley engine, so I love the rumble. Â But these guys are just revving their engines over and over again to get attention. Â Everyone in the bar puts their hands over their ears, as they can't stand it. Â Overall, this bar has the same drink specials as the rest of San Angelo, and they have one IPA, just like many other local bars. Â So they have absolutely thing special to offer. Â Seriously, you can find the same drink specials, MUCH more friendly bartenders - which isn't hard, since half these people act brain dead - and a better location, for the same cheap price or better, AND you can get people that have basic manners. Â Sadly, I think most people that decide to head to a local bar will not look at yelp. Â Hopefully someone will, and my review will save them from rude bartenders, attention-seeking 21-year-old patrons, and douche bag bartenders, and they will instead find a place with polite bartenders, the same prices, and a better location... Â which isn't hard. Â In short, this place sucks. Â They have a lot of reputation, but they can't back it up, at all. Â I have been to a lot of bars in my time, in more than 20 states, and this one seriously falls short. Â Go across the street and you can get an awesome frozen jack and coke for like 3 bucks. Â Hell, go 100 feet down the street and you can get the exact same drink specials, without asshole bartenders/bouncers. Â In short (as I have repeatedly said) this bar is nothing but hype: every other bar here is just as good, if not better. Â Only their drink specials gave them 2 stars instead of 1.
