For the price and what you get, as well as the updated menu - this place is okay. Beer here is a little pricey compared to other restaurants (and especially their store attached). I had a lamb shank in a mushroom red demiglaze a month ago as a special and it was fantastic, although I haven't found any more specials since then. I was skeptical to try their pasta, since El Fidel has that down, but Dick's has proven that you don't need to overprice "foreign" food to sell it. Very hearty bolognese sauce. Also, their buffalo wings are some of the better ones in town, but be prepared to order a lot of beer because they are extremely spicy.
I hear their New Mexican food is pretty good, but I would rather go somewhere more specialized if I was in that mood.
(If you want similar, cheaper food, cheaper beer, and a quieter atmosphere, I would recommend the 5th Quarter Grill).
The bar itself is pretty crazy at night. Especially during the summer, the locals fill this place up and people like to play dress-up when they come here. Entertaining. Otherwise, during the fall and spring, it's a little more packed on weekends with the college students there (being a 5-minute walk from Highlands...) If you stay with cheap beer or local drafts, you can leave with a small bill. They have this specialty drink called a 'Trashcan'... It's interesting. Vodka, Rum, Blue Curacao, and a Red Bull stuck in the top for $12. Do not plan on driving after that.
We used Dick's catering service for a work lunch and the food was a hit. Not only was the food great but the delivery was right on time and the presentation was very professional. Foot and Ankle Associates will definatly be using this service again in the future after such a great first experience.
Review Source:The wait staff doesn't come around nearly often enough to check if you need anything. Â I've visit this bar/restaurant several times a year for the past 20 years, and I can easily say that this is the worst wait staff they've ever had. Â
That said if you find yourself eating at the bar or in the restaurant they have pretty good deli sandwiches and some of their starts and entrees  are not bad. Try the green chile cheese fries or the New Mexico bagel. They also have a nice selection of domestic and imported beers.
If you sit in the bar you can order from both the deli and the restaurant, but if you sit in the restaurant you can't order form the deli. If you do sit in the bar, sit at the bar for quicker service otherwise you may not get helped.
