We've ate at Diner 22 for most of our lives. Â The food is always good and usually we see friends while dining there. Â
It has just had a make-over for the menu. Â I hafta say that I liked the Pizza Burger with the old bun. Â The new one is just not as good. Â It takes away from the great taste it used to have. Â Is there any way you can change it back?
If you ever decide to expand, I would recommend a bigger seating area as the tables seem somewhat crowded together.
Also, I'm glad that you now take Credit Cards (just not American Express). Â That was a definite improvement.
I have noticed that it seems like it runs a low waitress staff. Â It seems like if there was just one more waitress, it might run more efficiently. Â Sometimes, it takes a little bit to get the food, but it is definitely worth the wait!
The food was great once we got it, but it took what felt like forever to get our food. Don't know if the kitchen was backed up or what but it was a little over half an hour before we were served... Plus, a guy that was sitting at the table next to us got up and went and asked for another drink, and mumbled on his way back past us, "this place is really going downhill." Â Despite the service, the food was good enough that I'd be willing to try it again someday if I'm ever out that way.
Review Source:Diner 22 is one of those places that time forgot but in a good way. From the outside it reminds you of the old roadside restaurants that dotted every new "highway" in the united states... Luckily this one made it into the 21st century and kept their charm all the same.
The Food is great and cheap! They have great breakfast and it's the only place I can think of that I have ordered a Pizza burger and fresh cut fries and thought wow this is really good. They also pride themselves on their homemade pies.
The atmosphere is also great, It appears everyone knows everyone at Diner 22 and if they don't know you they make you feel like they do.
If only there where more Diner 22's in the world that we could escape to from time to time and get back to "the good ol' days".
Keep in mind Diner 22 does not except Debit or Credit Cards. Cash or Check only.
This place is an old train car turned diner. It has been added to over the years and a true Americana experience.
We came along this place while traveling down old Route 22. We really just needed something to drink and to use the restroom but how can you go to a place like this and not get something. The pie seemed like a proper road snack.
All of the pies that they had were homemade and had about 4-6 inches of homemade whipped cream on the top perfectly toasted to give it a nice caramelized skin. We opted for the coconut cream pie. It was not overly sweet like I was expecting which was a pleasant surprise. I wish I was hungrier because if the food was anything like the pie it would have been a proper meal.
This is the perfect place if you are either just looking for a roadside diner to get a home cooked meal or if you really have the desire to time travel back 25-30 years.
