Doc's Diner

Doc's Diner is a wonderful local place for lunch. While it can be tempting for local diners to skimp on the quality of their food just because the locals consistently come, Doc's does no such thing.

I had a Frisco melt platter, which includes a drink and fries. The sourdough bread was excellent and skillet-toasted just right; the meat patty on the inside seasoned well, and fresh green pepper and onion complemented a sharp cheddar on the inside. It's just a Frisco melt, but it's one of the better melts I've had. Steak n' Shake needs to up their game.

The chicken soup was decent; it could've had a deeper chicken flavor and the veggies were soft, but these are little quibbles.

Of course we had to get some pie, so we ordered a pie e of coconut, peaches and cream, and peanut butter for dessert. The peanut butter pie has a flavorful chocolate crust and peanut butter cups, while the coconut has lots of coconut flavor in the custard filling and in the toasted coconut on top.

The winner, far and away, was the prayed and cream pie, which was contained in a deeply flavored and spiced crust. Excellent!!!

Doc's is a great place to stop for lunch, whether or not you live in town or are from out of town. If you come back enough, it's also a place where everyone will learn your name. All the better reason to try the rest of their menu!
