Oh, what a treat! To be the first to review Doherty's is like being the first to sing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" at karaoke night... which is apropos, considering Doherty's is one of the best karaoke bars I know.
The last time I hung out at Doherty's was for my mother's 50th birthday. Yeah, you read right. My moms and I celebrated her 50th at Doherty's. And as a result my mother was treated to a fantastic rendition of Chef's "Salty Chocolate Balls" and a nice ass-flash by the chicky singing Lifehouse. Multiple glasses were broken and many a Bud Lite was consumed. Jeff behind the bar keeps them ice cold and there's never a shortage. Â
There are so many stories I could tell about this bar... Â I have spent more time in this bar than I care to disclose. My advice: If you ever find yourself on Highway 99 in the middle of the Central Valley, take the Central Tulare exit. Take a right at the stop sign, pass my old high school, pass the Taco Bell where there is ALWAYS a line at the drive-through, pass the park where we used to spark it during lunch break, pay no attention to the lowered Chevy truck next to you blaring Creed, and take a left on "K" street. Park in front of the cammo and ammo store, and head on into Doherty's. Pull up a bar stool, sign up for a live rendition of "Enter Sand Man" and let the good times roll. Tell 'em Trixie sent ya'! You're guaranteed a good time.
