Excellent burger, fried ho-hum. Most foods  deep fried, most steam table veggies on the buffet looked soggy. Catfish and hush puppies looked good. Salad bar looked fresh and had the typical - look of a before mega servings offerings salad bar (think 1970s salad bar). That is not to say it looked bad, but by itself would probably not serve as a full meal option.
The waitresses were polite and efficient - the two gals in the dining room we were in seemed to be a team - customer always wins when that happens. I asked for coffee at lunch time - the waitress put on a new pot. The coffee wasn't the best I've ever had - but was good and not bitter.
We were in our RV, which requires extra parking space - we arrived just before the lunch rush and had no problem parking - any later and it may have been an issue.
I asked about the pies and was told they were homemade - we didn't have any - but the prices looked to be reasonable enough $1.95 - $2.50 range.
The all you can eat buffet seemed to be the most popular - the waitress said the top three menu items were: the hamburgers (very good), the fried catfish and the chicken fried steak (Friday buffet had the catfish as an offering).
Would we go back - sure, but probably wouldn't go out of our way to go there.
The service was great. Â They were super friendly.
However, this does not make up for the sub-par food.
The Chicken fried steak was very very thin, and had WAY too much breading. Â It was tender, however didn't really have any flavor to it.
The gravy was actually pretty decent. Â Could have used a little salt though.
The mashed potatos were instant. Â Gross.
The salad bar was average at best.
Portions were big, but the quality was lacking. Â I won't be back.
This was a great find for us just wandering around looking for some food! Â I was in the area to shop at Lake Fork Trophy Lures across the street. Â We decided to try Don's because it was close and looked promising. Â We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food and the very friendly service.
My dad in law loved the catfish. Â I had the Chicken Fried Steak and loved it. Â I can't remember what my wife and mom in law had, but they very satisfied too. Â My wife even bought a shirt to wear back home here in Hawaii. Â We will definitely stop by again on our annual fishing trip to Lake Fork. Â Aloha!
