This is by far THE BEST BURGER I have ever eaten in my life!!!!!!
The Labradoodle was cooked a perfect medium rare with cheddar cheese and shaved prime rib on top of it, then dip it in an outstanding au jus . Â I am afraid no other burger will ever come close to this one. Â If I lived by there, I would be a regular. Â The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was wonderful.
My friend and I recently stopped by this local pub to forget the weeks headaches. Although we waited a few minutes to sit down, we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The staff was friendly, we met with the owners and had a great time. Not to mentioned the food was amazing. I can't remember the last time I had a great beef stew especially made with Guinness. My friend had the potatoe soup and chicken club. I was able to taste the soup and it was delicious.... Only problem was he got the last cup. The place has a real friendly give from the staff and the customers. Great place to come and relax with a pint. 2 thumbs up... A definite must.
Review Source:We visit this establishment quite a bit. Â The owners are frequently on site and care about their business and service. Â The meatloaf and prime rib sandwiches tend to be our favorites. Also, I highly recommend the Goat Cheese Avalanche salad - splurge for the added salmon! Â Honestly have eaten here around 40 times in two years, and we have never had a bad meal or poor service. Â
And we always start our meal with a few deviled eggs. Â Yummy!
Fantastic place! We were in town visiting our son at college and we stumbled upon Double Dog. We could not have been more pleased. Very nice and comfortable English pub style feel. We don't drink so I have no comments on the bar or the drinks.
I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf with Irish Whiskey sauce. Incredible flavor and texture and the bacon was a very nice touch. But the sauce ... oh my! Â Absolutely fantastic whiskey sauce! Â And not just that same old "whiskey" sauce that is usually 95% sugar. The whiskey flavor was evident and had a nice bit of sharpness to it. They should bottle and sell that sauce. Â My wife had the Beef and Guinness Stew. She loved it, so all she'd share with me was a taste of the "gravy". Wonderful flavor and the Guinness clearly added to it's complex and tasty flavor. My kids had the Reuben, the Toasted Italian club, the Beer Braised Brat on Pretzel Roll, and a bowl of French Onion soup. Â They raved about all of them, although my youngest felt the soup was too salty. Finally we ended the meal with the dessert special: Pumpkin Cheesecake with caramel sauce. Wow!
Service was very friendly, prompt and attentive. Prices were fairly reasonable. All in all a wonderful experience that I would recommend to others.
So.. we visited double dog to see the pups.. We were missing our dog as we were away on vacation and on puppy withdrawal.. Double Dog has no dogs- the owner Bob was great and explained that Dogs are not allowed in restaurants, however EriK with a K..the bartender  he said to make sure and spell and his name right was a total jerk..  Never in my life have I met a bartender that was more disrespectful, MEAN,  and not customer oriented.  Really.... did  I as visitor to Double Dog deserve his sarcastic demeanor???  Did I deserve Eriks constant jags??   Bob-- GET RID OF ERIK.  Your restaurant and bar will be better for it.
Review Source:I really liked this place when it opened, but they have had some less than desirable workers there..we actually showed up with a 10 top and started pushing a couple tables together and the waiter came over and told us to "stop, that he didn't want us over there and he would rather sit in a different area"...minus 2 stars right out of the gate. Â It was at least 6 months ago and since I've been back this same server has not been there, so I'll chalk it up to one bad time. Â Very nice pub style place with pictures of customers dogs and cats all over the restaurant which makes it very localized, but we liked it. Â Owners really seemed nice, so we'll keep patronizing it and hopefully our bad experience was a one time deal
Review Source:This restaurant is in Glenwood Springs, not Aspen. Â Fun atmosphere, good food! Started with the poo-pooh platter with awesome garlic teriyaki wings, beer cheese with crackers and pretzels, devilled eggs and veggies. Yum!! Main course for me was a Labrador burger clad with avacado, bacon, swiss and mushrooms. Great food! Loved it and loved looking at all the doggie decor! :-)
Review Source:While traveling through Glenwood, we had a fantastic lunch here today with big group of 8 and a Yellow Lab named Ajax.
The food was all great, especially the Labradoodle which is a burger topped with shaved prime rib au jus. The sliders were killer and included a kobe beef burger and nice Mahi chunk plus our two salads were excellent.
The new Glenwood location is in a nice, newer mall. They are ultra dog-friendly and will include a picture of your dog on the wall if you send them an email. Bob and Cindy, the owners were there working their tails off and seemed very friendly and accommodating.
Overall fantastic experience, we'll be back.
Came here twice and enjoyed both experiences. Â How can you not love a pub that celebrates dogs?! Â I linger on the stairs every time I leave this place to admire all the photos of peoples' dogs.
They've got reasonably priced, tasty food, along with a casual atmosphere. Â Burgers, beers, shuffleboard and tv - what more can you ask for? Â We enjoyed watching Shaun White win his second gold in halfpipe tonight over the beef stew and soup of the day. Â Our waitress was friendly and didn't rush us out of there even though we'd finished eating.
YUMMY! I ate myself into oblivion this evening at Double Dog's Pub. Â I was with my boyfriend and my cousin and we had had a full day of skiing and there was (honestly) nothing else that sounded better- BEERS & Burgers! Â
So we sat around a smooshed table and enjoyed a few beers, a few shots, and extremely large burgers. Â I had mushrooms and cheddar cheese on my burger, cooked medium rare. Â The french fries were phenomenal and so was the burger. Â I was licking my fingers by the time I was done with everything, and then heaved over because I had eaten so much food.
BUT MAN OH MAN- everything was absolutely delicious. I would say- after a long day of skiing and trying to act "mountainous" (or healthy), hit up Double Dogs and indulge a little in some greasy burger goodness. CHECK PLUS!
Double Dog Pub is a must visit for all dog lovers. Their photos and knick knacks are so cute! My friends & I took some coasters as souvenirs and they have some cute postcards as well. Â
Oh yeah, their drinks are pretty good too. We ordered espresso martinis and irish coffees. But even if you aren't much of a drinker, just pop in for the ambiance. =)
Double Dog is a basement pub with no windows. It's dark in there, and I found the overall ambience to be depressing. They really milk the dog theme too. It's probably more cozy and inviting at Double Dog Pub in the winter months rather than summer.
Yes, I will go back next time I'm in town.
This was my favorite pub when I lived in the valley. It was very unassuming -- Aspen's version of a come-as-you-are establishment.
My friends and I would migrate here after weekly hockey games, for a post-game pint and sometimes some food. Both the beers and the food are great. But what really sets this place apart are the staff, they're wonderful!
The Double Dog is entirely a basement, right next door to the Steak Pit. They have shuffleboard tables, a fireplace, and some comfy couches in the back corner to pile into with your closest friends. On a regular basis (which I never keyed into) they have small live musical performances -- Â irish folk/bluegrass and such. Good times.
I don't miss much about living here, but I do miss the Double Dog. I recall their burgers being very good -- and the fries, yes, the fries. mmmm.
Just so ya know, this is where the locals hang out to escape the crazy hedonistic tourists. At least, it's where my friends hang out to get away from crazy out-of-towners.
Very good local beer on tap! Â Not sure about food... just did some drinking. Very friendly bartender!
Such a cute interior which is dog themed. Â It was very cozy with the fireplace it was a nice atmosphere.
The night we went there was live music!
Just watch out for those shuffleboard guys they really get into their game. Serious!
So the place is not very crowded and we walk in and get a table right away. Then we sit and wait, and wait, and wait about 15 minutes for a sever to come over to us. She's too busy chatting up some guy at the bar, I guess. So the boyfriend goes over to the bar to order and the bartender looks at him, then turns around and continues to do whatever it was he was doing, which looks like a lot of nothing to me. Whatev. We leave after that. Which is too bad cuz the place is cool inside and the menu looks good.
Review Source:The Double Dog Pub is attached to the Steak Pit restaurant, and you can either have the pub menu or the restaurant's. Dishes and prices will of course differ accordingly.
But I was looking for a slow-roasted prime rib, so I went for the dearer choice.
The ambiance is fine (if you don't mind being underground), very pub-like, and you can dine either at a table or at the bar. Either way, the place is warm and relaxing.
Friendly and very professional staff. The prime rib was properly cooked, as was my spouse's choice, some gigantic crab claws.
