South Texas at its finest! Corn fajita tacos are excellent and the sports memorabilia collection amazing including the boxing ring. An adventurists delight. Stop an have a ice cold cerveza at this exquisite Port Isabel bar & grill.

Doubleday was one of the most interesting sports bars I've ever been to. There is TONS of sports memorabilia all over the place, a boxing ring in the center of the room, sports on lots of TVs...my husband was in heaven as soon as we walked in. We arrived just in time to take advantage of the awesome happy hour specials, and any place that has dollar margaritas is ok in my book. They were small and not super strong, but a $1 margarita can't be bad, right? We had the fried pickles for an appetizer and they were AMAZING. I was shocked and how many were in the basket and thought "there's no way we can eat all of those by ourselves!" but it turns out I was wrong. We definitely devoured the whole basket. They come with a sauce of some kind that I can't describe very well except that it was not anywhere near as good with the pickles as the ranch dressing that comes in a squeeze bottle on the table. The waitress alerted us to this fact when she dropped them off, and she wasn't wrong. After the massive basket of crispy fried pickles, we each had a burger. Hubby had the regular cheeseburger and ordered onion rings with it (he got fries anyway...oh well) and I had the jalapeno burger with cheese added and fries. BOth were fine but nothing special. I thought the meat was probably from a preformed frozen patty and was cooked just a tad too long. The fried pickles were definitely the best thing we had. The fries were good but we couldn't eat many of them after the massive sodium overload from the pickles. We'll definitely be back and try some of the other things on the menu. The wing specials on Tuesday are ridiculous, but we unfortunately were not there on the right day to take advantage of them. Whatever they were grilling on the patio smelled amazing. Other than mixing up the onion ring/french fry substitution, the service was really good. Before happy hour ended, the waitress (didn't catch her name, sorry) came back and asked if we wanted to pre-order a few more margaritas each at the happy hour price so we didn't get stuck paying regular price later, which we thought was very cool of her. My only real complaint (aside from the unexciting but passable burger) was that they use styrofoam cups and all the dishes are disposable. Aside from being tacky, that's tremendously wasteful and I can't imagine it's not more expensive in the long run than buying inexpensive dishes and washing them. There was also a table of high school kids next to us scamming free fries from a waitress that seemed to be one of their buddies (she was their age) and it was weird to me to be in a bar with kids, but c'est la vie. They weren't bothering us.

this was my 1st time going .....but i went on a slow sunday afternoon for a nice lunch with my family..... and it was nice... a few bar flies yelling out loud but thats too be expected at a bar... ya think .  nothing seemed to have been over $$ on the menu really... but i did not like the styrofoam cups with my lunch.... i paid a total of $32.00 and the drinks could have at the very lest been a better size and in a better container. apart from this is if you dont mind the smoke...then expect people to lite up a cig right next too you.... so if you dont smoke or dont want your kids around that..go to a section where no one is sitting .

Going to see World Cup games.  I had to add this place to Yelp, parking lot was entirely full on Friday at 9:30pm, where are the yelp reviews?

WARNING: The menu on their website says $12/lb for boiled shrimp but the one here says $14.

Pool tables., tons of decorations, dance floor, they are building a patio out front.  Free WiFi, mentioned right on the front page of menu. Works great on my visit.

Happy Hour every day, 3pm- 7:00pm, noon-7 on weekends. Daily specials. Nice website.
