In Jackson, AL, I was not expecting much in the form of fine dining, so I went to the Downtown Grill with rather low expectations. The place was good, I enjoyed the buffet, which consisted mostly of your typical southern food... fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, etc... and a yummy selection of pie and other desserts.
My only real complaint was with the service... the waitress seemed oblivious to all of our needs... she would walk past the table without even looking at us, often times forcing the people at the table to have to get up and take care of things themselves... like getting napkins, pouring more drinks, getting ketchup, etc...
BOTTOM LINE: The best place to eat in the city of Jackson, AL.
Have eaten here twice, as it seems to be the only upscale restaurant in the area. The two lunches were tasty; grilled cajun chicken salad, and the club sandwich. I will say that both items seemed to be over priced for the area, but as I said this was more than a fastfood joint.
The two servers were busy... and they offer a buffet style lunch.
