This roadside diner and lounge has been recently remodeled - EXTENSIVELY remodeled - amounting to a major upgrade. It's clean, and now resembles a middle class restaurant from the city, not a country diner at all. The artwork and decor is tasteful, middlebrow . . . which is far more than you'd expect for the area. I haven't tried the bar, yet, but it is well stocked, and the lounge features a pool table. The deck overlooking the slough and the Columbia River is perfect for those rare sunny days ("Skamokawa" means "smoke on the water," or some such, and refers to frequent fogs). The food is not gourmet, it is standard American cuisine, as good as or better than most other diners nearby. There's a salad bar. The wait staff is great: cheerful, competent. I've eaten several meals there, and will eat more.
Review Source:OK, the new and improved Duck was worth a stop. It's a fresh remodel, not even resembling the old one that was a dive. They have a nice outdoor deck over the river which is great on a warm day. The service was good, the drinks good. The food mediocre and pricey for what we like to spend, but it was ok... just ok is what I give this place. We'll stop again for a drink probably as it's on the way to the Washington beaches. It's better than the old place for sure.
Review Source:Duck Inn is just about it for food and/or beverages in Skamokawa. Bottom line, it is a dive! Not very clean. No healthy food on the menu. This is a local's place with all of the characters that come with a local watering hole. The drinks were strong, at least, and the prices were affordable. Big TV in the bar. But forget health codes; watched the bartender play with her hair and eat, picking-up greasy food with her fingers, and never saw her wash her hands. Colorful conversations which consisted of a lot of attitude and the use of the "f" word in abundance. Can't really say much good about it, other than if you're starving, on the way to the coast, and you find yourself in Skamokawa, you can get a strong drink and some deep fried food here.
Review Source:Came here on October 30th and the Duck Inn was the hot place to be to celebrate Halloween with some adult libations in Skamokawa Washington! Â They have Karaoke, Pool and lots of seating. Â While it was packed on the night I was there, apparently this is not the normal scene and is usually quite a bit quieter. Â The drinks were reasonably priced but a little more than I expected for a bar in the middle of pretty much nowhere (a sign for a Mike's Hard Lemonade priced one at $3.95). Â The service was friendly but the local's reminded us that this is a local's spot and called out "Goodbye Portland" on our way out.
