Never had a bad meal in the place in the last 12 years since moving here.  Especially when Ms. Dunleavy is running the place, the staff has always been great, the perch outstanding, and the beer cold and fresh.  I'ts the best place between standish and alpena.  (except of course for Iva's chicken dinners in sterling, but that's a whole different story)  And for the record,  I work for a large restaurant corporation in a big city, and have spent a lot of time in the better dining world.  What makes a restaurant great is presenting itself with the best that represents it.  Dunleavy's hits all  its marks.

I think the below user needs to re-evaluate his culinary desires when he is visiting a local pub in a town with a population of under 900. And that first sentence sounds awfully gossipy for a restaurant review. Classy.

I grew up in Au Gres, and as part of that, Dunleavy's was always a landmark in that town. From high school sports dinners to an occasional night out, under Bridgette's care, Dunleavy's has always stayed fairly consistent.

Yes, some dishes are not great, and sometimes the Absolut is low. But the staff there always goes FAR out of their way to make sure that they accommodate you in the best way possible. I have been there on a busy night when a waitress took the time to run to the party store across the lot to buy a some wine for some petulant customers.

Let's get real. If you're looking for filet mignon or a 5-star dinner, this is not your place. Or your town, or your 50 mile radius... heck, what are you even doing here?!

BUT! If you want a killer cheeseburger, some chicken tenders, a frosted mug of Mic Lite on tap this is where you need to eat. If you "like" them on Facebook, they post daily what their specials will be, and they always try new things for their lunch menu.

For a summer after college I actually went home and worked at Dunleavy's. I live in Austin, TX now, and I can tell you with all this nationally-recognized BBQ and food trucks run by winners of Top Chef, I still pine for Brian's Monster Burger with jalepenos (hold the tomato).  It's not perfect all the time, but if you're looking for perfection, maybe you should stay in Florida.

Save your money and time. Owner just got this place back through a land contract default.
Bar didn't have enough Absolut to make a Martini.
Bruschetta was sliced cheese sprinkled with dry basil and a slice of tomato. NOT !!
Reuben sandwich was two slices of corned beef and cheese on swirled rye.
