I am not sure if this place is still called the Dutch Mill or if it changed name to "The Crow's Nest". I used to bring family and friends there to enjoy the food. Several years ago, my wife and I started going there and it was fantastic. Great food and while not cheap, at least kyyou left not feeling cheated on the price.

This evening, my wife and I made the 45 minute drive from South Indy to Milroy and about we started to notice some small changes. Table covers and chairs were all green and the waitress asked us if we wanted menus or the buffet.

We went for the buffet, but after eating there, we wish we had not gone. The meat all had the same flavor. There was roast beef that tasted almost like beef jerky. There was BBQ ribs that tasted just like the roast beef that tasted like beef jerky. Friday was seafood night so they had a lot of seafood items but seafood really isn't something you drive to the middle of Indiana to get. You know it will be all pre-frozen and deep fried. I did try the popcorn shrimp and fried clams and the taste wasn't that good.

The price was something like $16 and both my wife and I left feeling like we had been severely overcharged.

So the hundred dollar question. Would I ever go back? Not on your life. Maybe the farmers around the area might go on a regular basis, but I am not going to drive all that way to get less than average food and get charged such a high price.

So whether its the Crow's Nest or the Dutch Mill.....it's quality has dropped significantly!

I was Soooooooooo disappointed!   I found this place that claims to be an Amish style restaurant and it was less than 20 minutes off the highway on our way to Gatlinburg, TN.

So our group of 11 get all excited about yummy Amish food. Well - it claimed to be a buffet - and it did have a long one. The food looked ok but not good enough to pay the Friday dinner price of $16 a person. So some of the group went with the less expensive salad bar - it was fine. The rest of us ordered from the menu. The good reports came from those who ordered fried chicken and the BBQ pork.  Everyone else - ;(.

What made it worse is that our expectations were high,  They have a great menu posted on it's web site.  We thought that we were going to visit a nice Amish restaurant in Shipshawanna. No such luck. I don't even think any of the patrons were Amish!  There was little feel of any type of Amish experience. Sad.

I am sorry to be the first review and be negative. I just had to warn you. My stomach still hurts. ;(
