They had some great unique toppings combinations, and a good beer selection.  Eating on the covered front porch was pleasant as we watched the sunset, relaxing after rafting down the Methow.  A couple had a dog at the next table, which worked for everyone.  Definitely very good pizza, I'll go again the next time I'm up there.

I love the high quality, local ingredients here. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni & sausage (sourced from the local butcher) and spinach and garlic. We were definitely impressed.

Also, the mud pie dessert was fantastic. Our waitress even brought over a second round of whipped cream after we had eaten it off the top. Great service!

Immediately upon entering, you feel welcome and offered a seat with water....even if you're ordering take out.  The staff is helpful and patient (it is a tourist town after all) and cool as the reggae playing in the background.  We got a Margarita Pizza and calzone, both were top notch, and came back the next night for another margarita pizza and breadsticks.  My wife and I both thought the pizza was even better the second night.  from 3-5 there is a happy hour serving $2.50 pints of microbrews and $3.50 breadsticks.  Great place to unwind, relax and hang.

First a couple disclaimers: I'm one-quarter Italian and make really good pizza myself. And, while almost every other food in the Pacific Northwest is excellent, pizza has been a huge disappointment. We've tried all the supposed "best pizza restaurants in Seattle", and they're...meh.

No more. East 20 is the real deal. Thin, crispy crust with excellent toppings. We had the 509er and the Freshetable, and a couple salads. Both pies were great.

Nice, friendly service and a smart selection of good beers too. I had the Irish Death, while my wife and another couple enjoyed the Snow Caps.

    We'll be back.

Note: we hoped to pick up a pie on our way home, from the Carlton Store. But, the owner said he had to stop carrying the pies a few weeks ago due to lack of demand. Hoping that will change, and demand can pick up. Hank's carries the pies too, but we'd really like the Carlton Store to get some biz.

Best pizza. Best service. Best location and soooooooooo much fun!

The kids in our group (ages 18 months to 14 yrs) LOVED their pies and so did the adults.

The hubby enjoyed a greek salad before his Calzone and me (his lovely wife) seriously enjoyed my personal pan pizza with it's crispy crust and tasty toppings.

An added bonus for the entire group was the foosball table out back on the patio.

If we're ever in town again, we know where to go for great food!

Delicious pizza in a rusty, highway side location.  Outdoor seating was nice.  The crust was yummy as was the sauce on the 509er.

This is as good as an American pizza gets.  I loved this place.
We visited for lunch during a Methow stay.  The server was lovely and the pizza fresh, imaginative and absolutely delicious.
We had a 1/2 509er and 1/2 spicy sausage.  We LOVED the spicy sausage.
Nice beer selection and excellent service.
    We will be back.
    GOOD JOB East 20 pizza!

Honestly the best pizza I have ever had. We ordered three different pizzas and each one was made perfectly and came out hot without dripping in grease! Also they now have gluten free which tastes just as good as their regular pizza crust. It beats any Chicago pizza I've ever had! I WILL be back again!

One of my favorite pizza places in the world.  We visit it every time we go camping in Winthrop, Wa.  Our favorite pizzas are 509er, and the 3P. But the others are also pretty good.  I personally think it is the best if not one of the best places to eat in Winthrop.  When you take in a count for price, quality, and beers!! But since it is not on the main street, you got to cross the river to get to it.  But it is worth it.

This was very possibly the best vegetarian pesto pizza that I've had in my life.  Great pizza, fresh condiments...and top it off with drinks served from my wife's home country (Jarritos soft drink) and my own...Pilsner Urquell to go along with local micro brews and a view of the deer passing through Winthrop.  Really, you can't beat this place.  I'll go back each year for our annual cross-country skiing trip.

My girlfriend and I were spending a week in Winthrop X-country/skate skiing. We were staying with a local but still wanted to experience the regional cuisine. We espied East 20 Pizza one day and drawn by the $2.50 Happy Hour thought to stop in. As these things go one never commits to the menu until the beer kicks in and soon after ordering a pair of pints we conjured an 8" pizza. Being mostly vegan we chose to create your own pie which finally consisted of a red sauce topped with artichokes, garlic, mushrooms, red onion, and spinach. The beers were rather nice, rotating taps, which can deopendably be good - and these were. Then the pizza arrived. The first thing we noticed was the peculiar color of the sauce. Yes it was red, but it was an off-red and turned out to be a harbinger of further tastes. The sauce of a pizza ought to represent it's soul and this one was vapid and mediocre - in fact it tasted fresh out of the can unadulterated. The sauce rated low but the crust was just as tasteless. Overall the pizza experience was disappointing, especially for a joint that has been in business 14 years. Doesn't anyone else review these places and tell it like it is? I thought it peculiar that the waitress did NOT ask us what we thought of the food. (Perhaps she already knew what we'd say). Synopsis: If you appreciate good za East 20 Pizza is an unworthy stop. Better make it at home or opt for cuisine elsewhere in Winthrop.

One of the best pizza's I've ever had!  We stopped in after a day of fishing, after reading many great reviews of the place.  I had the portobello, and it was fantastic.  Great selection on tap, very relaxed and welcoming - the wait staff gets your order right, brings hot pizza, cold beer in chilled glasses, and is attentive but not overly solicitous.  You can even catch a little of the game on a big screen.  A nice mix of old and young, locals and tourists, and nobody minds if you have a little mud on your boots.  One of the best memories of our trip.

Love this place! Friendly service, great prices, and pizzas that are some of the best I've ever had. The pizza selections are unique and you won't know which one to get since they're so original and are packed with fresh and tasty ingredients. The pizza is thin-crust, and was never burned in our two visits, like another reviewer claimed.
This seemed to be one of the best spots to eat in Winthrop, highly recommended!
The mud-pie for dessert was amazing, and enough for two people to share.
They have a good beer and wine and cider list, too.
We ate in one night, and did take out another, both experiences were awesome.

Amazing pizza! Amazing service! This place far exceeded our expectations. Our pizza was just how we like it: thin delicious crust, flavorful sauce, fresh and local ingredients, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. I strongly recommend stopping here if you're in the area.

This is a very popular and busy place.  We have had pizza from there takeout five times on our mountain biking or skiing trips to the Methow

They have a trendy pizza menu that may or may not be to everyone's liking.  We have always had calzones or pizzas and found them to be OK.  Not flavor delights like the ingredient list would suggest.  Perhaps it is our expectation that there will be nice fusion of flavors that one savors on the first bite.  It just hasn't been there.

Our biggest complaint is we cannot remember a pizza that hasn't been burned on the bottom - every time for us.  It is becoming a joke with us, "Did they burn the pizza or calzone?"  one of us will ask.   "Well yes they did, high five for consistency."  We'll continue to go there, especially on those dark snowy nights, because it is close to where we stay.   I suggest working on the baking time and maybe sit down and really work with the ingredients to provide that favor experience those ingredients suggest.

3-10-2012 Update- finally got back to trying the pizza again.  We ordered two pizzas - the Pesto Chicken and the Art's pizza for takeout.   Well, they were great.  Excellent combos, good flavor and a great crust.  Best of all they were cooked to perfection.  Weeee!

This place is fantastic!  Best pizza I've had since moving to Washington eight months ago.  Since we couldn't agree on one large pizza, we all got individual ones.  I had the Greek pizza.  I'd never had kalamata olives on a pizza before -- what the hell was I thinking?!?  So damn good!  My girlfriend got the Puttenesca and added rosemary to it.  I had a bite -- sinful!  My friend got the CB and added tomato and fresh basil at the end of the bake time.  I wish this restaurant was closer than a near 4-hour drive.

The service was good too.  The wait staff pleasant, chatty without being overly so and great about checking our drink status.  I asked for some shaky cheese (aka Parmesan that you shake out of a container onto your pizza).  They brought me a ramekin of freshly grated Parmesan that was out-of-this-world good.  All in all, I am so happy that was my last meal in the Twisp/Winthrop area.  Yummers.

P.S. They do accept credit cards but there's a dollar surcharge.  Cash is preferred.

This is the best pizza (to date) that I've eaten in the Winthrop / Twisp area. The restaurant seemed to be very popular with the locals, too. Short summer and winter hours may account for the brisk business during the hours they're open. Prices were reasonable. The crust was on the thinner side (yea!). The selection was interesting. The interior was cozy and community / family friendly.

Great pizza in a tiny location. But best of all, the service was pleasant and FAST. We had the salad (there's only one), a Greek spinach concoction which was well dressed (but not overly so) and big enough for 2. We followed it with a 509er pizza (featuring red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, olives, green peppers and mushrooms). The pizza was delicious with a good somewhat blackened crust.

If we had stayed in the Valley another day we would have been back for more!

My wife and I arrived in Winthrop on a Friday night about 8:30 pm and had read the good reviews about East 20 Pizza. Also we had heard that it was started by some people who were at the Local Myth pizza in Chelan that we liked. It turned out that they closed at 8 pm. So sadly we were unable to eat there then. This is not a big deal as we were staying the weekend in Winthrop.

So on Sat we ordered a couple of pizza's to go. First off I must say I had high expectations for this pizza. We have eaten and enjoyed the pizza at Local Myth. If this pizza was even close it would have been a hit.

Sadly this was not the case. The crust was flavorless the sauce was very flat. I like to have a flavorful crust and some spice in my sauce.

To my taste this pie was more like something you would get from a chain place so if that's your taste you will love it.

The staff were nice and helpful.

One last thing they will charge you an extra dollar to use your CC

Fantastic pie! We rode our bikes there from the KOA. The Art's is delicious - more places should put leeks on pizza. My only complaint is that they didn't have a Hef on tap to wash down the tasty nosh. They'd get 5 stars if they'd had a Hefeweizen. We will be back!

P.S. Much better than the BBQ place next door!

This place is a gem and worth the 8 hour drive from Portland OR! I am a serious foodie and have a plethora of Zagat-rated restaurants all around me. This was a wonderful surprise. We ate there 3 out of 7 days and managed to try 7 different pies. The owner, Ryan, was there in the kitchen everyday and when we couldn't decide he offered to do different halves, even when the bases were different, ie: tomato to pesto to muss-man curry or olive oil based on what we wanted. I am always adding, substituting, etc. everywhere I go and I didn't have to make any special requests here. The food is amazing, beer is great, frosty pint glasses a plus...LOVE the local support from the whole wheat - ground in the next town, and local brews the same, even chorizo and Canadian style bacon were from local markets cured nearby! Awesome!! Live Music was cool Friday and Saturday nights too. LOVELOVELOVE...bring one to Portland PRETTY PLEASE!!??

Seriously good pizza! East 20 is a small little joint with some indoor seating and some outdoor seating.  They do have limited hours and are closed on a couple of days.  We stumbled upon this place while camping at the KOA down the street (walking distance). Everything seems to be homemade from the crust on up!  The crust was whole wheat, which I loved....it was spectacular!  They have quite a few beers, and if I remember correctly, it was all homemade.  This is a place I would definitely seek out when in the area again. It is probably one of the best places we ate at during our stay in Winthrop.

    UPDATE!
We went back and this time had a greek pizza with chicken (yummy!) and the creamy greens pizza (delicious!).  The latter had spinach, mushrooms, alfredo sauce, fresh tomatoes, a balsamic glaze and three kinds of cheese.

The crust is great too.  I'm not a huge fan of crust but I'm also not one to leave a big plate of crusts when I'm done with my pizza.  I happily enjoyed the crust here though.

We were not disappointed.  It's amazing to me that the little town of Winthrop can have better pizza that anywhere in Bellingham with over 60,000 people in it.  Crazy.
