I wish so badly that I could speak for more then just the garlic fries here. The service leaves something to be desired. If you come at night, not during prime dinner hours, you will be greeted with an amazing selection of drafts, all priced the same, some of which are hard to find else where. Eichardt's also has a fantastic draft rootbeer.
The Garlic fries are a great appetizer, or something to munch on while you are drinking with friends. There is a neat little game room upstairs that can keep you entertained either by playing the game yourself, or by watching others.
Come when it is busy thought, and you'll find a hard time finding a table, not host to be found and not a care in the world that people are waiting. It is like they know they are one of the best choices of food in town, so they don't care.
All that aside, the vibe is excellent, the beer tasty, cold and cheap, and there are by far way worse places that you could find your self after a long day skiing.
Eichardt's is a Sandpoint staple. The food isn't bad but I wouldn't say it's great. The food at Mick Duff's is definitely better. Beer selection is great and atmosphere is very much a local mountain joint. Service is ok and price is mid range. Not somewhere we eat very often due to menu selection and pricing. $50 for two for lunch is high in my book.
Review Source:I like this place a lot. I like the atmosphere and looking around every time I eat here. My parents LOVE this place. They have good salads and dressings. The plates always feel crowded to me but the service/owners make up for all that to me. Live music every once in a while too. Great location. Just park on the street or around the corner.
Review Source:Eichardt's is an awesome tavern with great service and excellent food. I had to try the garlic fries, and all I can say is definitely get the fries. I could not eat the whole order, but I tried. They are thick cut fries with lots of garlic and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese and some herbs. The menu is pretty large and it all sounded good. They have a great selection of beer, most of it from microbreweries in Washington and Oregon  For my meal I chose the a Caesar salad topped with blackened sockeye, and it hit the spot. I will be returning to Eichardt's.
Review Source:We had high hopes when we walked in. Eichardt's has a great atmosphere and style for a pub. They had a great beer selection and the menu looked good. The service was slow, they seemed a little understaffed the night we were there. It took a while to order a drink, a while to order our food and a while to get our check. We ordered a burger and a salad along with the garlic fries. The burger was overcooked for how we like it, and not particularly tasty. The garlic fries were garlicy, but they were the steak fry variety of fries and they were kind of mealy. Â The salad looked great but was just missing something. It had chicken, oranges, apples, etc but didn't have anything that really tied it together. We wanted to love this place but couldn't.
Review Source:With a Good vibe, live music several nights per week, tasty food (we love the fish and chips) and a rotating selection of about 15 microbrew beers on tap (including an ever-changing cask draught choice) plus a surprisingly long wine list it's no wonder this pub has been a Sandpoint favorite for decades.
The ceiling is studded with the ever-expanding tap handle collection, the back bar has an extensive display of pez dispensers, and most any flat surface sports some sort of cheeky stickers or sign.
Eichardt's is definitely one of the must-visit destinations whenever we visit Sandpoint!
We went to this pub on our ski trip to Schweitzer in March '11 after one of the locals recommended it. Â We went to have dinner there twice. Â The place is located downtown. The atmosphere is great, service was friendly and very casual. Â They have a good selection of tap beer and decent choices of wine. Â The food was the best part I had the bufallo burger with the awesome garlic fries. Â My girlfriend had the salmon pasta that was also really good. Â The second night we had a fish special which was also good and I had breast chicken which was delicious. Â Portions are very reasonable and price us fair ( around $50 for both of us with two drinks each). Â We love the place.
Review Source:This place rocks. They have great atmosphere, amazing food, and stellar service. We rolled into town late on a Sunday night when everything else was pretty much shut down. They were open late and even kept the kitchen running for us, which was awesome as we were starving from a long drive. They have tons of local beers on tap and great wines to boot. The food selection was broad and very tasty. I would go back in a heartbeat, if I lived there. I will make it a stop the next time I am through the area.
Review Source:Eichardt's is the de facto Place to Go in Sandpoint, and deservedly so. Â Like most Sandpoint businesses it ebbs and flows with the tourist seasons, but it manages to pull off being a coffee shop, restaurant, and bar equally well, so it maintains a steady regular patronage year round.
The other reviews already summarize what I'd say about it, so I'll just share my favorite Eichardt's story:
When my brother got married in Sandpoint several years ago, the bachelorette party consisted of the ladies getting together and doing bachelorette party things and the bachelor party consisted of the menfolk standing around hip deep in the Pack River, drinking Keystone Light and watching the groom-to-be drive his Jeep over big obstacles and through the river - Real classy.
It was really a lot more fun than it sounds, but I unfortunately lost my camera that night so I can't prove it.
Anyway, the two separate parties eventually convened at Eichardt's to form one big pre-wedding carnival. Â We were big enough to essentially take over the main floor and had thankfully upgraded our beverages to their fine tap selections, leaving the few remaining 'Stones for another time.
Needless to say, the details of the night are pretty hazy, but Eichardt's was the perfect setting for the big combined singlehood sendoff: cozy enough to be intimate and familial, yet busy enough to be a hell of a lot of fun.
Oh, and it's a great place to loosen up stiff legs over some pints of seasonal winter brews after a day on the slopes.
We were passing through town and looking for a place to eat lunch. Â Saw a review for this restaurant on Yelp. Â We almost past it up because it look rough from the outside. Â I'm glad we stopped. Â Cool place with lot to look at while you wait for meal. Â Try the Porter Dressing for you salad.
Review Source:Eichardts is a cool local pub with an Irish pub feel to it. The lighting is low and the brick walls are adorned with old local pictures. The ceiling must have one of almost every beer tap made in addition to nick knacks placed on beams through out the place. The beer selection is some of the best in the area offering a cask ale and barley wine selections (in addition to other wine). There is an upstairs with a shuffleboard table, pool table and a couch. The couch would be thrown out of most frat houses for being too dirty. I do not suggest you go upstairs unless you bring an oxygen mask and a bottle of Purell. The food is quality for a small pub. The menu is varied and offers some good regional seafood, although the salmon has been overcooked before. I have had a few dishes in the place and never really been disappointed. The garlic fries are great and go well with a side of blue cheese or ranch. The Cesar salad is awesome and should be ordered if you like Cesar. The only real disappointment is the shaky service. If the place is empty and the owner is there you will be well served and happy. If there is more than 10 people in the place your best bet is to go somewhere else. I have tried to get a beer at the bar before when the place was crowded and the bartender ignored me and seemed to only want to serve his friends sitting at the bar. One time I had such bad service (waited 1 hour 45 minutes for food) I spoke with the manager and her response was "With the hippies we have working in the back your lucky you got your food at all". Wow, now that's what I call good North Idaho service. They have live music sometimes and I have seen a couple good bands at the place. If the band is good and the place is crowded you might want to bring your own food and drink because the service will stink. Slow service, sometimes bad attitudes takes Eichardts from the possible 4.5 to a 3.
Review Source:I'd like to upgrade my review to 4.5 stars (gotta keep my fives down, ya'll!)
Came in here last night (it was a Sunday) at about 9:30pm, received prompt service and the food arrived surprisingly fast. I got a braggadocious barley wine on cask (only place in Sandpoint with cask beer...heck, there is only one place in Spokane with cask ale). I had to drive back to Spokane and wasn't up for a full 12 ounces of this brew, so they let me get a 6 ounce pour of it!
My friend and I both got burgers. She got a Cajun blue cheese beef burger and I got an elk* garlic burger, both were FANTASTIC. We had been hiking all day and the salads were...breathtaking. This is one of the most bodacious dinner salads I have ever seen! (we also got blue cheese and garlic dressings on our salads respectively...)
I will definitely be coming back here again. Only negatives are:
- Kind of expensive, but I suppose that's to be expected of a tourist town. And really, I don't mind paying a bit more if the food is tasty. (it is)
- They have more good beer on tap than towns many times their size. This sucks for me because I often have to drive back to Spokanistan and I'm not too fond of injuring myself/others/deer/property on my drive home.
*like many places in the Inland NWish region of North America, you have many different options for your burger meat. I like this.
A million or so taps litter the rafters of this dark and cozy pub in downtown Sand Point. I'm greeted by the buzzin' bartender and a few locals enjoying a few micros in the late afternoon. I think it was talk to stranger day at the Eichardt because almost every person that entered had something friendly to say to this city slicker. Gotta love a micro pub with great energy.
Bartender gives me the lowdown on their dozen or so delicious mico beers on tap. Then i ask whats the deal with the Busch Lite tap and he lets me in a little secret... They put a crappy beer tap on the gems so no one orders, leaving the goodness to only those who know...
Food looked good and there were a few families coming through for an early bite. Next time I'm back in Sand Point, I'll be going to Eichardt's and ordering a Busch. Shhh!!!
This is a great place to hit up after a day on the slopes at Schweitzer.
The ambiance is great and the beer selection matches. They had a wide range or micros including a barley wine and a cask conditioned ale. Â If you are looking for a cocktail you better head somewhere else, this place is beer and wine only. Â
We went with a pretty good sized group (10) and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the Teriyaki burger with Elk (they were out of Buffalo). It was really good. Their Garlic fries are perfect with no garlic induced coma like the Safeco Field fries. The menu is varied and should please carnivours, vegetarians and the picky alike. I was not a  big fan of the walnut vinegrette but who the hell cares, I just ordered a side of ranch to replace it.
This is the first, and probably only place I go to grab a beer when I visit my folks back home. It's laid back and welcoming to the low maintenance type, but also inviting to the the hippie jive-rs who wanna get their freak on. Plenty of good beers on tap, great food, and also live music regularly. It has an upstairs with a loft, which has a cool view of downtown. Â It serves as a makeshift restaurant during the day, and a bar/pub from 10 pm onwards. It's kid suitable during the afternoon, but can get a little more adult social starting around 6pm.
