Out of what seems to be 18,000 Mexican restaurants in Oakland, this is my favorite. The food is cooked to order and is always hot. Â The Margaritas are up to par with other restaurants with the "Margarita Machine". Â The food has a good spice and is usually served very quickly. Â One gripe is, they never seem to have the same hot sauce on the tables from week to week... id like to see them use one specific brand, not what was on sale this week. Â The chips are always fresh and the salsa is pretty decent. Â If your a cheese dip fan, its awesome here. Â The regular staff here is great and the Mariachi Band on Sunday Nights is a treat. Â There are a few gems on the "unofficial menu" if you know what to ask for as well. Do yourself a favor, ask if they have the "aquas" to drink. Â if they do, order a Horchata (its a rice water with Cinnamon) and it is awesome.
Review Source:My wife and I have dined here periodically for over 2 years. The food is very consistently better than the average mid level Mexican fare. A good value as well. Â The service can be inconsistent depending on how experienced the waiter may be, but they have many long term employees and the odds are in your favor for good service and good food. Â This place stays busy and this location is superior to the others in Memphis having the same name.
Review Source:I love this place! I lived in NM for a long time and this is the best authentic tasting Mexican food I have found anywhere in the Memphis area and believe me, I've looked! Â The molcajete is my favorite dish, but they also know how to do chile rellanos and tamales right! Now if they could do Sopapillas ala NM style, I'd be in heaven! The price is right and it is kid friendly. If you are looking for a "hole in the wall" type restaurant, THIS IS IT,
