I'm excited to be the first to review, but a little sad that it means other people don't know about this little restauant. I have the BEST childhood memories of coming here with my Mawmaw and getting lunch after church or shopping adventures. Or family dinners when all of Mawmaw's three children joined up at her home in Finger, TN for a holiday gathering. So, to say that I love this place is...well, obvious.

There are diners. Jersey diners, New York diners, Southwest diners consisting mostly of chain restaurants (think, IHOP), Midwest style diners that are very close to the Elms, yet aren't quite the same. I may be overhyping this a big, but its because they have really good food and really friendly employees.

For as long as I can remember, middle aged ladies have been serving up lunch specials and doing so with a smile. Familys have been coming here to chow down on Southern specialties (cornbread, fried chicken, beans, etc.) I know that lunch time was a personal favorite with myself and my cousins as the special always came with a little slice of yellow cake with chocolate icing or some other kind of delicious (oh, I loathe that word, but here its appropriate) desserts. They have a little salad bar that was a big hit with my little sister. Maybe to her, it looked like something bigger than it actually was or she just took delight in those tiny little ham cubes that people put on salads. She's since given up pork, but I'm sure one more trip here and she'd probably change her mind.

Hell, I've since become a vegetarian, but I'd go back to Selmer, sit down at the Elms, and tear into some fried chicken tenders if only to get that cute little square of yellow cake and the charm of the diner I grew up visiting so often.

If you're in town, go here. You'll be glad you did.
