Eye Candy Night Club

I came here after Above & Beyond for an after party and was extremely disappointed.  First, the venue charged $25 for entry advertising tickets were near sold out.  It's a typical promoter tactic but a culmination of bad practice leads to a bad night.  This price was ridiculous for what was included.  I was okay with no big name djs but with no production i found it completely unacceptable.  The club was empty and still way too hot and sweaty.  Next, the sound was far bellow average.  There was no bass in an edm club?? The lighting was very sub-par.  No lasers and cheap as you can go lighting.  Finally, the biggest let down was that it was a dry club.  I have heard of all ages venues without liquor but an 18+ club with no beer?  I would have given the venue one star but the entry process was easy and the staff was friendly.

I went to the Above and Beyond concert at Avila Beach this past weekend (EDM), and Eye Candy was the venue for its afterparty. My friends and I came here from out of town and bought our afterparty tickets without doing much research on the place (probably our fault!) We had never partied in SLO before and thought it would be a fun scene to check out.

Two words for this place: hot and sweaty. We walked in around midnight and were sweating in minutes and this place wasn't even crowded! How is there no ventilation here??? The music was pretty good, but it was also a little disappointing that they didn't serve alcohol. We knew it was a 18+ event, but who knew that were would be no booze?? (Note to self: Don't go to 18+ afterparties in general.)

The venue itself was decent right in downtown SLO. It was easy to find parking and the dance floor was a good size and the bathrooms were nice and clean. However, I don't think I'll be coming back here again - wasn't my idea of a great party and reminded me of when I was in high school going to lame 18+ parties in downtown San Jose.
