Owned by the Omni Mt Washington hotel the food was as it should be good! Prices are high for the area. Decent eats!

If I could give two reviews on this I would break it into food and atmosphere...food was fantastic...my 8 & 10 year old had a great meal as did I but as for atmosphere sitting in the lounge side is a MUST...the dining area was so loud we had to move. You could not hear the person next to you. It was also cold and drafty...lounge has warm colors and fireplace making it more relaxing.

Nothing special here at all. The food was mediocre at best, drinks were okay, service was fair. This place is way too pricey for run of the mill quality food. If their was another restaurant in the area I would have gone there. Unfortunately this was the only option.

Great food, fresh and tasty! Wait staff very nice...

We were there during the "stick season" - not quite fall foliage and not quite ski season - so it was quiet and relaxing. We had the same friendly waitress as Alison H. - the one from Chile - her husband is a chef there as well - amazing bread bowl for the soups!!!

Good pub food.  Super slow food delivery (with virtually nobody in restaurant), but very pleasant staff.  Kids loved electric train in dining room.

Wayyyy over-priced for extremely bland food, small portions, and horrible service.

The place is missing something. What is billed as  former train station was actually a flop. Nothing more than an over priced country diner. Drinking water from a goblet doesn't equate to a $12 sandwich. If there were more memorabilia on the walls, or something it may have been better. Definitely got you coming and going if you're a tourist.
Food was ok. The portions were just fine but nothing special.

Good place to catch a $5.50 beer and enjoy the natural beauty of NH though.

Way overpriced with very small portions.  Expect to pay $5-10 more over the equivalent meal somewhere else.  Extremely slow service with a good but overworked waiter.

The outside facade is the best part of the restaurant.  The inside felt more like a school cafeteria than a quaint train station.  My recommendation is to go elsewhere.

This place is a welcome surprise right next to the Mount Washington Hotel.

I figured being the only independent restaurant nearby, they could completely phone in their food and service, and people would still go, because there are no other options. But fear not! This place is totally worth a visit.

Very good service - friendly waitress from Chile was great. Menu interestingly featured a fried green tomato sandwich as a vegetarian option instead of one of the tired old options like portobello or veggie burger. I have never had fried green tomatoes before but oh man, were they good! The whole sandwich was awesome - delicious goat cheese and spinach, yummy pretzel roll, with a sort of balsamic reduction on it. Bread pudding/brownie sundae were tasty. I also had a side salad and that was delish too (recommend honey mustard dressing - it has a kick!). Friends were all very happy with their choices. Would recommend this restaurant.

I've eaten here before & the food & service was good, however, last night was appalling! 45 mins we waited for food, our server didn't even keep us informed nor apologized for the wait. I'm pregnant so imagine my horror when my chicken salad arrived & my chicken wasn't cooked through! PINK!!! NO apology! Disgraceful service, hence NO tip! I'd never go back!

Safety Tip.....Keep driving by..... and if you are staying at the Resort, stay on site, this place is no savings and not worth the drive off the main grounds.

Service is well below that you would expect at an Omni managed property and kitchen is a slow as molasses.

In a nutshell.....extremely slow and grossly over-priced......it is a nice old train station building, but you will get the most enjoyment out of this place by looking at it, not eating at it.

The service here is good. The food... was a little too rich and fattening for my tastes. It was just too heavy. We're talking fried foods and things loaded down with cheeses and fattening sauces. They really need some lighter things on the menu which won't make you feel horrible or fat.

$8.00 for a Kids Hot Dog?  $8.00 for a small, cold, sticky bowl of kids spaghetti with (barely) butter?  How about $3.00 for a kids soda?? Seriously?!!
I found the food mediocre at best and the prices high, even considering the fact that it's across the street from the ski area.  Atmosphere is less than cozy, and it is cafeteria loud inside.  I forgot why I hadn't been back here for dinner in 4 years.  Now I remember.  If you're going to spend money anyway, head over to Stickney's at the Mt Washington Hotel instead.  Service on the other hand, was adequate.  The server was quick and friendly

    visited on 1/30/12 for dinner

I had been here about 2 years ago and had a disastrous experience.  I was hesitant to return but after learning that there was a new management and not wanting to spend a lot for dinner at the hotel or drive far (we were staying at the Lodge) I agreed to give it another try.

This time everything was on par and exactly what you would expect for this type of place.  Although our waitress had difficulty smiling, she was pleasant and quick.

We tried the Poutin (fries with cheese curd and gravy), wife had a burger, I had a roasted turkey sandwich, and my 7 year old had chicken tenders.  Everything was good/ very good and although  the turkey was not the "house roasted" turkey I was expecting, it was fine.

Beer selection was good with local brews on tap and wines were reasonable ($5.5 local draft, $7.50 glass of wine).

Given the local choices this is certain the best bet for a casual, inexpensive (for a resort) dinner if you are staying at Bretton Woods.

Male server at the bar "gets it", great service an an understanding of what level of service to give.  Food too fast after app and he appologized.  Great flavor & price for resort.  Awesome pastrami.

Fabyan's would've gotten a 3 and half star from me if 1) it was possible and 2) if the restaurant have a notice about using credit/debit cards.

We were on our way up to the Flume when we decided to have lunch first and chose to eat here.  We ordered burgers  and it was tender, the cheese was melty and the lettuce was shredded so that you don't have to eat a big hunk of it.  I saw that they have poutine fries and I add it on for $2 more.  My sister says she never saw poutine fries before or in any of the menus in her area.  Let me tell you, I was in heaven when I had it.  The cheese curds were spread perfectly on the fries and it's gravy was not heavy or salty.  They use beef brown gravy, FYI.

The service was pretty fast and friendly but the problem I had, like what I said in the beginning is when you're charging with a card.  I was checking my acct and saw that the pending charge from them was the wrong amount.  I called the restaurant the next day and spoke with the manager Joe and he said that they often get a call from customers having the same issue that I have and it should clear up in 1-2 business days and I would see the right amount charged to my acct.  If not, give him a call back.  It's just how their system works.

It's like WTH?  I know it's just a few bucks more but just imagine if you were on a vacation on a budget and you actually charged it on your debit instead?  You might get stranded or have things start bouncing off your accts.  Any resort areas I've been too, I've never seen anything like this and isn't it ILLEGAL to charge more than what you're suppose to even though it's temporary?  They need to fix their system or choose a different card machine provider because it's not right.  I'm sure the manager gets tired of taking the same complaints because he was able to figure out my problem within the minute.

I would recommend this place to go to but try not to use your card till they fix the issue.  Lunch menu is around $8-$15.

Amazing spicy chicken wings. Fast service. Loved the railroad miniature as well as the real engines you can see close to the windows!!

This place is quite good.  We have been coming here for about 7 years now and it has definitely improved with the Omni management.  The kids love the train, and since they fixed up the interior a bit, it is pretty nice.  Keep in mind of course, that you are in the mountains, and you will realize that this is a great place.  I have never actually been disappointed with my food here.  Also, they have great wings!

It's an interesting space, nice decoration. Decent food, but nothing surprisingly delicious. The service was lacking, and prices weren't that great. (It was $40 for two adults and a toddler to have lunch.) Overall, I'd suggest to drive a litter farther down 16N to go somewhere else.

BBQ and smoked is the theme here as lots of other options in the mountains provide BUT this is one of the few so close to Bretton Woods so it packs up quickly.  Unfortunately this geographic corner on the market drives up cost for average food and allows flies to whirl around without question.  Guess with enough beer anything is ok in the ski season...

The toy train the goes around the place is a nice treat for the child friendly atmosphere that is created here, I'll give them that to bump it up to a 3 star otherwise it would be a 2 star for sure.

We enjoyed it! We ate here after the crowds left for the season and found the food good and atmosphere nice, will probably eat on the pub side next time for atmosphere. Burgers were good and had chocolate pecan tart which was excellent and just the right size to share and each have a little taste

I think this place is part of the omni empire.  If the AMC cafe' at Crawford Notch is open (a few miles away on 302) you will be better off getting a meal there.  The Fabyan is quite costly for such simple foods.

compare the price and food to mt washington resort, they are better than them  But otherwise it is too expensive for a sandwish and a soda for 2 ppl end up $50 no alcohol

I came here for a late lunch with my boyfriend. I was excited to try the clam chowder after reading all the reviews online but unfortunately they were out of it... I'll have to get it next time. Instead we ordered chicken fingers that were cooked perfectly and we got all kinds of sauces on the side - medium Buffalo, teriyaki and honey mustard. All were great. We also had a couple beers. They had Pig's Ear Brown Ale from Woodstock on tap so I was a very happy camper. We sat at the bar and would probably do so again the next time we're in town because the bartender was great and it's just the kind of place where I don't need a fine dining experience.

I was ill-prepared for my stay at the Mt. Wash Hotel.  The hubs and I failed to pack proper evening attire and were not allowed in the main dining hall for dinner.  But our dampened spirits were replaced with the celebration of the every man, when a bartender informed us that that Fabyan's Station was casual-attire friendly, with a just as satisfying, yet more pocket-friendly fare.

Fabyan's is cute and quaint, nothing about the interiors screams at me.  It's pretty neutral in the amount of ski lodge kitsch.  The service was fast and friendly, but the food was how-do-you-say just bad.  We ordered the french onion soup, which for some reason is served with provolone, (Italian onion soup?) and made with probably 12 cups of sugar.  I felt like I was spooning a sugar beverage with a hint of onion.  Following that was the most depressing disgusting caeser I've ever not eaten.  It looked that bad that I didn't even want to eat it.  The cole slaw my elementary school cafeteria served was more appetizing than this, and I went to public school!  it was all dressing and mush.  Our mains weren't that much better.  The ribs were drenched with sauce, but still lacked a good balance of spice, and the fish stuffed with crab was pretty mediocre.  But the entrees were more enjoyable than the appetizers.

Basically, Fabyan's is a less expensive alternative to eating in the main dining halls at the Mt. Washington, and since you're in the mountains, with few dining options, you'll end up eating there despite yourself!

Food is American fare (with entrees beyond just burgers). Portions are large (although not cheap). Everything we had was good. Despite the packed restaurant the service was excellent. We were seated in the back room of the restaurant with a window overlooking what I assume is a ski mobile trail (as there seemed to be several passing back and forth). This is directly across the street from Bretton Woods Ski area  and less expensive or formal than anything at the Mt. Washington Hotel (which runs a shuttle bus for guests down to Fabyan's). The atmosphere on a Saturday night after skiing was warm and bustling.

We eat at Fabians when chef dad needs the night off or after a late soccer game. We have never been disappointed. Boone never fails to make us, the regulars, nor the visitors feel at home.

It was cool that it was an old train station with the ticket booth still kind of set up inside and the train actually going by in the back.  Also, there were a few good beer choices on the menu, from local breweries and microbreweries.  Food was between OK and good, typical sandwiches with fries.  My BBQ chicken sandwich was huge and I didn't finish it.  I really don't have much to say about Fabyan's except for their bathrooms. As the first lady reviewer, I'm going to do all the girls out there a solid and warn you now! The ladies room was a hot mess and it's only one stall.  There were flies swarming around the toilet, TP all over the floor, and no soap. Ah!

I do not agree with the first reviewer. Must have been an off day.

After a long day out snowmobiling, my friends and I went into Fabyan's (or Faby Baby's, as I call it) to warm up and grab a bite and libations.

Fabyan's is a cool old train station in the shadow of Mt Washington, now divided up into a pub and restaurant.

The pub side was packed with skiers and snowmobilers, eating and watching the game on the flat screen.

We ate in the restaurant side which was more quiet.

The menu, is small, limited, to mostly, pub grub. I did also notice some "specialty" items such as high end steaks as fresh BBQ ribs and pulled pork. They smoke it on-site (see photo) and it looked and smelled wonderful.

We all ordered mostly pub fare. I had the french onion soup gratin which was good. I think it was missing something in flavor, but was still a good dish.
Next was the loaded potato skins with bacon, cheese, and scallions. Again, very good. Portion, not as big as I would have hoped.

Dennis got a bread bowl full of chili which was rich and had good flavors. Not too hot.

My friends both got burgers. Cooked "PERFECTLY" and the fries were "SUPER". One said it was the "best burger he ever had" and this was big for a picky 14 year old eater.

The service was fast. Not too friendly. Our older waitress was good and efficient however surly.

The experience is fun. Toy model trains roll above over the tables as well as old local photos decorate the walls of years past.

The place looks nice enough, a renovated railroad station. It's run/owned by the Mt. Washington hotel, so I had semi-high hopes when I took my family there for dinner in early October.

The food is mediocre at best; it's like they were aiming for Applebees quality but fell short.  At least Applebees is is satisfying in a fast-food, sugar-rush kind of way.

The service could best be described as "inattentive."

There's not a huge selection of restaurants in this tourist area of New Hampshire, and we're still looking for a great place for our weekend trips here.   :-(

A surprising find. Great food made with fresh ingredients. Great kids menu too. We had a Reuben's Sandwich, Chili in a bread bowl and, for the kids; burger, Macaroni and cheese and a hot dog. Rounded off (for the adults!). The thing that made this a standout experience was the freshness of the ingredients which made the food above the norm.
