Service was amazing. Would've been five stars for that. Food was just ok.  Not bad. Not memorable.

Love it! Still not a whole lot of choices near the lakes (Oconee and Sinclair) however Filets fills a niche for a place to get a good meal. Enjoyed the appetizers including  complimentary bread with roasted tomatoes. I have had both the rips and the steak and can recommend both. I enjoyed the citrus glaze on the ribs and they were well cooked.  Good selection of beer and wine and an attentive service. Can be a little cramped but I am totally understanding as I know how hard it must be to keep a restaurant in this area busy during the winter months!

I have loved filet for a long time. Their lunch sandwiches have been some of the best I've ever tasted. I was anxious to see if their new location had any effect on their service and food quality.

The service was excellent and prompt as always. The food was 4/5 because I felt it was a bit under seasoned. Otherwise I am pleased with the new location and will probably return. I don't however believe it's as good as it used to be. What once was my only consideration for dining out while visiting the lake house, Filet needs to improve, because a few other great dining options have recently opened nearby.

Absolutely fantastic.  menu is stellar in all categories, and all entrees pair up well with what the wine list has to offer.  friendly and prompt service too.  you truly get what you pay for and then some.

We literally just came back from dinner here for four with two children.  It is about a 5 minute drive from the Ritz where we are staying.  Enjoyed the experience so much I felt compelled to write before forgetting the things we loved about this place. (also posted this review on trpadvsr)

First you should know that we are fairly particular.  We wanted an alternative to the Ritz having dined there the previous day and receiving decent food with a hefty bill.  We also were tired of 'fast casual' and chain alternatives as we are moving through a lengthy trip and just wanted a better meal.

    The Good

    1)  We loved the food and the presentation.

My wife had a seasonal special of seared grouper over orzo with a wedge salad.  My 10 year old shared this dish.  They both loved it.  Looking at the presentation I had to try it because it looked to be cooked to perfection and fish cooked properly seems to be a lost art even at some of the best seafood restaurants.  One bite and I was hooked - this was a fantastic dish that illustrated creativity, complexity (in rural GA), and a chef's pride.  Did I mention it was cooked to perfection?  Seriously this chef must have taken the fish off the SECOND it was cooked through, flaky, tender, beautiful flavor.

I had filet tips over mashed potatoes with a red wine reduction.  This dish was also on the seasonal menu -  the filet was tender, abundant, and properly cooked (two for two on temperature with variation between beef and fish with simultaneous plating - now we're talking!).  The dish was very flavorful and plated beautifully.  The only thing that could have made it better is if I was in the mood for and ordered the grouper!

Now for the dessert - all four of us had this incredible caramel seasalt gelato with pretzels and chocolate chunks.  To be honest, this might be the best mix of frozen (ice cream, gelato, etc.) dessert flavors I have ever had.  I will be remembering this for a long long time.

    2) The service

Our server as well as the owner were both very attentive - not only to us but to our children as well.  You can tell there is a great deal of pride in this restaurant and appreciation for the customers who frequent it.  No request was a bother, the drinks were never half empty before we were asked if we needed anything else, and our server knew the menu and how to make informed recommendations.

    3) The price

While price is relevant, it certainly is not the most important from our point of view when vacationing - we just wanted an enjoyable dinner off property.  We thought it would be a good chance not to get 'resort gouged' and try something different but wanted something along the 'finer' dining options.  If price is important to you, this is a place for a good/fine meal at a price you might be more accustomed to paying at a mid-level chain restaurant.  For example, we had two drinks, kids had two drinks, entrees for 3 with salads and 3 desserts and our pre-tip bill was under $80.  The (perfectly cooked) grouper dish was $22 and my filet tips entree was $17.  (Note - I recently paid this much for a less than steller lunch entree at Olive Garden).  This is a $$$$ place with a $$ price.

To have this kind of meal (with cocktails) at these prices is very rare - keep in mind this is a resort area and I am sure most of the customers here would more than willingly pay more for a meal of this calber.  Oh, one other thing - when we were there they had an 'all day any day' happy hour - the drinks on this menu are $1.99!  Selections include martinis (including e.g., cosmos), mixed drinks (several classic cocktails), beer and wine.  Honestly we think they are crazy for doing this but it was very much appreciated - cannot remember the last time I ordered a drink for $1.99.

    The Bad

I dont think there is anything 'bad' about this restaurant.  It blew us away.  If there is a drawback, it is that we went in on a Monday and things were a bit quite - if they could have music weekends, etc. (which they may well have) to liven it up that would make this place perfect (although then it would probably be overcrowded :)).  Anyhow, there is nothing bad about this place - you will not be disappointed.  Likely to save a fair amount relative to any remotely competitive restaurant and walk away with an exceptional meal, outstanding service, and the attention and satisfaction only a locally owned and actively managed restaurant can deliver.

If we are ever back in Greensboro, even if staying at the Ritz, there is no doubt we will be eating here every night.  This place deserves and will earn your business.  Thank you Filet!

Awesome fall-off-the-bone ribs and Jambalaya.  Great bar area and outdoor patio.  We love this place.
