We were back in the area again after a few years. Â The last time we visited Firehouse Grill, we were totally blown away. Â This time, not so much. Â Although it is a friendly joint with good service, the food has declined to "mediocre". Â The strip steak was of excellent quality, but marinated in a sweet whiskey sauce that I would not order again. Â It just tasted weird. Â And the side dishes-- green beans and baked potato-- were not good at all.
Review Source:Finally made it on a Saturday to try the prime rib special and it was huge and very tender, though there was a bit more fat than I appreciate. (The dog was ecstatic when we got home, though!)
I was disappointed that the bacon wrapped green beans don't seem to be offered anymore, but absolutely must put in a good word for the bread pudding - Â scrumptious!
Well I'd been by, and I'd heard good things and I had perused a very  eclectic menu. On what has become a very circuitous trip from Sidney to Lincoln I stopped this morning for breakfast. I had something off their normal breakfast menu that included hashbrowns and when I asked that these be left off, the waitress (who also turned out to be the owner) said "no problem, I'll just not charge you for the coffee and we can call it even" I knew I was in small town heaven. When the 2 biscuits smothered in homemade sausage gravy arrived with 2 perfectly cooked over easy eggs, my suspicions were confirmed. Great job. I will be back to check out the rest of the menu.
