WORST BAR EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
While there on St. Patrick's day, I saw they had a Texas Hold Em game and I joined. 2 hours into playing and really enjoying myself, a guy across from me called me a "kike" and a few other curse words. I hadn't spoken to him and had purchased 2 buckets of beers that I'd shared with other people at the table.
Before that comment, a woman who acted as if she was a bartender there, but was also drinking and playing poker, started calling me "Quarter" because I'd asked if a drink special was over.
I laughed at first to both of these slights. The dealer did cut off the guy at the poker table the first time he verbally came after me unprovoked. But later, a girlfriend of mine joined me at the bar and the guy had moved to the bar and started in on both of us continuing to call me a "kike" and several other curse words. I am Jewish and my father is 1st generation immigrant and my family is extremely hard-working. It was starting to really take a toll on me.
The guy was never asked to leave or cut off from alcohol, which should've been the case. I've managed bars and restaurants for 15 years in Tennessee and I've never stood for that in a drinking atmosphere. The female bartender who was drinking with him went with him to the patio instead and they continued to hang out.
I'd also been taking pictures all night of the poker table, confetti, a clover wreath around a deer butt mounted on the wall and of my friends. I went to the patio door to take a photo of myself and the guy jumped up from his table with several other people and came after me. I finally broke emotionally and the drunk bartender with him told the sober bartender to document what happened. I'm sure my presence was too much for the guy, but I'm guessing the over-serving didn't help. I'll never go there again and I'll tell everyone I meet about this verbal assault and horrific experience.
I was so excited to find a bar with a patio in this area, but the staff didn't respond professionally and I was assaulted verbally not just once, not just twice, but THREE times with threats of physical assault each time. How can this possibly be ok???
