I am really surprised at the review by Melissa P. as we were at The Fireside Martini Bar the evening of 1/27/2013. Although they were slammed with people, I feel they handled it very well. Â There was one table that loudly criticized everything -- even tried putting their feet on the table. Â I was embarrassed at their antics -- even criticizing the live music. Â It is upsetting to read a view for a dining establishment with an excellent reputation -- a place that we return to for their service, entertainment and even food (absolutely incredible pork sliders - made from scratch - even the barbeque sauce). Â Sometimes I wish the restaurants could rate the rude customers!
Review Source:The Fireside is my favorite place to meet with friends for a drink! The atmosphere is really great. The decor is really pleasant and it has always been clean. They often have live music too, which I absolutely love. It's just a super cute place! Â The staff has always been very friendly to my friends and I, and I have never seen them be rude to anyone. They have a good selection of drinks and I have made a mission of trying each one. Unfortunately I can never remember which one I like the best, because it seems like each time I order a drink, it's tastier than the first. But that's what keeps me coming back! Their food is quite tasty as well, and their chocolate dessert is to DIE for. I definitely recommend the dessert.
Review Source:I was staying at the Holiday Inn down the street, and Extremes looked like there were a few too many camouflage hats for my taste.  Good drinks, good happy hour prices, friendly wait staff.  It was pretty happening for a Tuesday night.  I had a flatbread that  wasn't any good, but I don't think food is the main thing there anyway, I'm sure there are other good things on the menu.
Review Source:I admit, I first came to the Fireside because my friend's band was playing there. Â So I had some drinks and enjoyed the show--it has a great atmosphere--like you are in your own living room. Â There are high boys, a large bar to sit at, and also comfortable couches and a fireplace. Â They have lots of different drink choices--I am pretty standard and boring, but I had a creamsicle martini once and it was delicious! Â I must say that my absolute favorite thing about the Fireside is the food. Â The menu, albeit limited, is delicious. Â And I can say this with confidence because my husband is a chef. Â The food is more appropriate for lunch and shared snacks than it would be for dinner, fyi. Â And last but not least, the owners and all of the staff are amazingly friendly and attentive. Â Cheers!
Review Source:JD knows how to give you a place that you just want to hang out at. A place where you feel at home and always welcome.
Some nights the place is filled with friendly faces and some nights it is filled with music (some nights better than others)
The Tuesday date night deal is an amazing deal. The appetizers are perfect size for sharing with your evening company.
Come on a busy night and bring your patience as you could be waiting awhile for staff to get to you, come back to you, or even remember you are in that quiet corner at your table.
The new owners are obviously passionate about this business. Yes, it does cater to a more "professional" and upper class clientele, which is a nice getaway from the college infested bars. Â It gets VERY crowded by 8pm, so go early if you want to enjoy a nice intimate experience. Â From the previous reviews I can say that yes, they do tend to pay attention to the regulars more. But since I intend to become a regular, I don't really care. Â JD makes the drinks strong and they have a great selection of liquor. Â The food is wonderful and unique. It does take some time - there is usually only one person working the kitchen and helping in the bar - but it is worth the wait, and when you are enjoying a cocktail with friends, a wait doesn't really bug me. Â I look forward to returning and trying more of the menu items.
Review Source:Okay...What the heck happened to this place!
I am sad to report that this last experience here was not very good.
We came in and we were looking for a place to sit. Two spots open,
one right by the door and the other one was a table that was dirty with glasses, food plates & dirty napkins. We sat at the dirty table and the woman working there was chatting with a guy at the bar. She glanced over but instead of coming right over to clean the table, she kept talking!! Then she went over to some other people at a table and did the same thing! Ignored us & acted clueless.
WE cleaned the table. In fact I carried the dirty glasses to the bar & moved the dirty plates to the other free table. We sat there...and sat & then after about 8 mins or so I got up & went to the bar and asked can we please order? So she said oh, what do you want! I ordered a wine and a mixed drink & went back to the table and sat...AND sat & well you get the picture!
And NO Luis, I gave them a good first rating and they weren't yucking it up with us! Drinks finally came & we paid right then & then I went to take a sip of the wine and the glass was all dirty! Greasy & a piece of food stuck on it!! Yuk....forget about her coming over to change the glass. I went & got a straw, we drank some and we were outta there!
Woman working there has her faves for sure. This is a rut a local watering hole can fall into if not careful. It is okay to cater to the regs but hey...other people matter too! I hate to say it, but each time we have gone her service is the most lacking as far as being professional & actually
caring about the people that are the customers.
It was busy yes, but so what! More reason to ditch the hanging out with the faves and girl get a move on! We may try one more time don't know. Hubby was disgusted...
I have gone twice, once to meet my wife, and once to meet two friends.
Both times it became apparent that staff priorities were directed towards friends?/ regulars ? Really anyone other than the "new guys".
While with my wife we ordered drinks and an appetizer. The drinks were delayed more than 25 minutes and we NEVER got the food. Second time, with friends, we were again fashionablly ignored. Staff was observed "yucking it up" with a crowd who I suppose are the ones giving great reviews (?) The place is very warm & ambience is soothing. But the sheer disregard of common courtesy by staff leaves me thinking two strikes doesnt really need a third try. Â This place could do wonders with a Customer Service Primer from a professional consultant, or better yet from the staff of the Boathouse in White Rock BC. A real pity the way things are now tho'.
One if the best stops for a drink outside of the pub-crawl of downtown Bellingham.
Cheap happy hour fare, a cozy environ and a warm welcoming staff make the Fireside Martini bar a great place to start a night out.
The manhattans are good as is the Carmen Miranda(I think that's the name)
Next to one of the best  restaurants in town, the Soy House. The north Bakerview food and beverage scene is starting to shape up!
This is one of the more sophisticated bar/lounge in good old Bellingham. It's newly opened this year with a cozy upscale ambience. Service is perfect and the martinis are the real thing. Decent wine list and tasty light food menu. It's in a shopping plaza so no real views but the outdoor space is a plus when the sun is out. I love the Marilyn with a kick and the Orange crush is mind blowing! Â Thumbs up for B'ham!
Side note: I grew up here but have lived on the East coast and traveled extensively around Europe, Asia. Its not easy to get a good martini just anywhere.
