I've been here three times. The sandwiches are always good, and the servers are attentive. I had some turkey and apple concoction, and it was tasty.
It just doesn't seem to meet my idea of a bistro though. They are open odd hours, and they often turn people away that don't have reservations. They also have a way too many tables for such a small space, and people are packed way too tight.
Used to love this place. Great food, great atmosphere. I visited probably once a week or so when I was living in Potsdam. I was up visiting and had dinner there, choosing one of my old favorites. I was disappointed in the quality of the food. They must have a new chef who is less attentive to details than the previous one. It's too bad but I will probably be taking my business elsewhere.
Review Source:Satisfying food, good selection (I think the vegetarian selection has gotten better since the restaurant opened several years ago), and perfectly pleasant atmosphere--I get a nice, relaxed feeling when dining there (the wine helps!), which I do pretty regularly. Â Wonderful desserts, though it can be difficult to choose between them. Â I'm surprised by the so-so reviews; I think this place would do well in a city--and certainly I've had less impressive food and service in some city restaurants. Â The servers are always so professional and friendly, and the owner is very welcoming and attentive. Â BTW: When dining at a semi-upscale inn restaurant in New England (more upscale than FC), dining partner said that the FC scallops were much better than those he had at the more upscale restaurant! Â Good idea to make a reservation if you can; seems like it gets especially busy on Friday evenings.
Review Source:Cute little place with good food and coffee.
I like to go here when I'm working late to grab some food and a cup of coffee. It's great for lunch too, lots of wraps and panini options. They tend to have specials too, so make sure to hear them out.
Depending on the day, the dinner hours can be a little strange, and sometimes the place may be booked for a private parties. But be sure to check it out when you can.
As said before, this place makes it because it's Potsdam. The mirrors on the wall may seem weird to some people, but it's to make the place seem bigger than it is, and we all know it's a small area they have to work with. The tables are somewhat crammed, maybe they could do something about that and place them more efficiently. They could offer more things on the menu too (I am somewhat picky sometimes). They have a niche that isn't filled in Potsdam. The food I had was good and the waiters were nice, I think they need to work on atmosphere and their menu.
Review Source:Had the Health Club Wrap for lunch today. It was pretty good. They need to take it a little easier with the honey mustard dressing on it. Just a little of it will go a long way.
Ate here Twice more, The soups were worth the trip here. Had the Health Club wrap again and was perfect the second time.
The food isn't too bad - definitely "bistro-style". Â It is definitely the best place in Potsdam to get a cup of coffee (they serve Starbucks brand) and it can be a nice place for breakfast or lunch, especially.
I actually try to stay away from here for dinner, because they've really tried to pack the customers in like sardines. Â The mirrors surrounding the table don't seem to help, as they add to the claustrophobia. Â I've found myself eating dinner while flanked by two separate couples who have actually talked across our table, because they are so close together.
This place would not do any business if it was located in an urban area. Because its the only business of its kind in Potsdam - it stands out here. Its classy and funky for a place in the North Country.
The wine list is very very short for a place that calls itself a wine bar. I have been to several homes in the last 2 months that have a much longer list.
The food is ok. The atmosphere is ok.
The owner used to be in Economic Development. Then he helped himself to everyone's ideas submitted and opened up several businesses. Guess that's a good idea if ethics is not an issue for you.
