Had breakfast here this morning. Lets start with the positives:
Awesome service, my coffee cup was never empty for more than 5 seconds. Â Amanda (our server) was friendly and attentive. Â Manager/owner greeted us at the door, promptly seated us, etc. service was excellent
Food. Â We both had omelettes with hash browns and pancakes, plus we added on a waffle with strawberries and whip cream because my wife likes waffles. Â This was a ton of food and we ended up not eating everything. Â Omelettes were cooked perfectly, hash browns were great, pancakes were ok. I read a lot about the awesome pancakes, my wife thoroughly enjoyed hers, I found the taste as take it or leave it. I wouldn't come back solely for the pancakes.
The coffee was really good. It was the perfect temperature for me, they pour it and you can drink it right away without scalding yourself.
The not so great: the strawberries tastes like they came out of a can. Â
That's it. Â Nothing else negative that I can see/taste.
This place is very good and I highly recommend it. Â In fact in planning this trip the reviews for flap jacks made me decide to stay in this area for the night and we stayed at a less expensive hotel that didn't serve breakfast just so we could hit flap jacks for breakfast. Â 5 stars if I hadn't of added strawberries to the waffle. 4.8 stars because I did.
We had brunch at Flap Jack's yesterday and I was most impressed.
The people were friendly and attentive, the dining room was clean and comfortable.
I ordered the omelet with spinach and feta cheese, it came with a two side options, I chose the hash browns and pancakes - I added on the Hawaiian topping to the pancakes and boy-howdy was that the best choice! The omelet was large, cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of spinach and folded in the center was a good portion of feta - every bite was delicious! The hash browns were good, but the crowning glory of the meal was the pancakes with the Hawaiian topping, which consisted of coconut and pineapple in a light pineapple sauce. This delicacy didn't even need a drop of syrup since the pineapple and sauce sweetened it up just enough. It's a must try!
There are Flap Jacks locations all around central Indiana, I hope the others are as good as this one in Lebanon.
I'm a regular here, and get the same thing, egg whites, turkey bacon, hash browns, and pancakes. It's funny because I can make all of this stuff at home (except those awesome pancakes) but I seriously enjoy the atmosphere and love the staff, highly recommend this place.
Food 8/10
Service 10/10
Driving out to this place was a treat when I lived at Wabash College. Â I would always stop on my way into Indy from Rt. 32. Â I enjoyed all of their food and the cleanliness of the restaurant was unsurpassed by any other place around...for sure! Â The staff was always super nice and one of the owners even bought my breakfast when he found out I was Greek...woo hoo! I left a 20 for a tip, so that balanced out well! Admittedly, I never got flap-jacks of any kind, but their skillets and omelettes were great! Â Lebanon does not have many places to eat at, and if you are on the highway to Indy, you can see their advertising on the road, and the restaurant is even visible from the highway, so stop on by and enjoy a good breakfast!
Review Source:When I go to my sons house I go by Flap Jack's and the parking lot is always full of cars. This is a good sign and is something to look into! We have stopped in twice, once for breakfast and the second time for dinner. I'm please to say the food was great both times. To start off with it's freshly made not frozen from a box or a bag!!!! Their soups are home made and you can taste the love that goes into making it. The servings are a good size and quite filling, they feed you they don't fool you!!!
Remember to eat well and to live well, and please no chains!
My wife and I have had breakfast here and light suppers. Â For breakfast she had biscuits and gravy, which she found to be good but not the best she's had; a little bland. Â I had sausage and eggs with hashbrowns and pancakes (this was actually brunch). Â The sausage could have used a touch more seasoning but it was otherwise all good.
Later she had a cheese sandwich and, being a native hoosier, I had a breaded tenderloin. Â The sandwiches were fine; I thought her french fries were a little under par but not bad.
Service was prompt and friendly. Â The building is very pleasant and you have a choice of outdoor seating. Â The menu is extensive for a family restaurant with, for instance, three kinds of crepes. Â I'll have no hesitation to come back.
