Beer always tastes the best after a day of hiking... As we left the park for our final time, all I could think about was a cool beer to close our Glacier National Park adventure. We had some postcards to write, and with the post office right next door, this struck me as the perfect spot to pen a few cards... And it was.
It was a great place to stop on the way out of the park. I had a few more Montana brewed beers. Inside it's a dark and a soothing place to sit. Normally I think a would 4-star a place like this, but the location alone is worthy of a fifth star.
If you need a cool adult beverage at the end of your GNP visit, do check out Freda's.
Only my favorite bar in the WG!!
Realize this is a seasonal summer bar... you will see:
dirty raft guides, park employees, lodge employees, WG employees, canyon critters.... and a few tourists... that's why it's great!
while drinking your $1 High Life(before 8PM) you can peruse the pictures of local achievements, play a game of pool or challenge your buddies to a game of darts(warning: the locals(raft guides) really like their darts so watch your step if you choose to challenge them)
after 8 the beer deal is $2 PBR tall boys.... the mixed drinks are pretty darncheap, especially if you are an East coast native. Freda's is a cash only establishment and new this year they got their very own ATM... WAHOOO!! no more trekking all the way across the street to an ATM that will most likely be out of money!
every night is a new night... with the eclectic crowd here you never know what you'll see!!
