Freeport Country Club

I'm writing this review as a warning to anyone considering using the Freeport Country Club as a venue for an event.

My sister had signed a contract to have her wedding and reception there a year before her wedding date. She was provided with a menu and was given a list of prices, which my sister agreed to.

Less than five months before her wedding, she received a call from the country club informing her that the country club was more than doubling their prices. Whenever, my sister tried to talk to anyone, they refused to address the issue.

My sister asked me to talk with the manager since I am attorney. I have never dealt with a staff that was so rude or spiteful. I was not confrontational or argumentative. I simply asked that the manager to abide by the original agreement and reminded her that a contract was supposed to bind both parties.

The manager started to scream at me and told me that they could give give my sister's date away in a heart beat to someone else.

In essence, the Freeport Country Club was attempting to intimidate my sister into agreeing to the new prices, because they knew how difficult it would be for her to find a new venue so close to her wedding date.

They were even reluctant to return her deposit.

My sister did end up finding a different venue. However, use strong caution when considering this place for any event. A contract is meaningless to them.
