Frisch's is pretty reliable, family-friendly fare. Decent prices. I usually get a bacon burger. Their onion rings are above average. The salad bar actually seems like a pretty nice option, although I've never selected it. I have done the breakfast bar, which has a surprisingly nice selection. My inlaws seem to love the liver and onions, but I'm not quite prepared to go there myself.
Review Source:Last year on our mini-vacation to Madison, my mother and I stopped for breakfast at Big Boy. This was my first experience with the franchise ( other than the Austin Powers movies, that is ;) ), and I was very impressed. Being that it was a Sunday, it was a given that the place would be packed with church goers, but that didn't deter from the down-home feeling of the place.
Servings are ample, and the prices are fair. They give you plenty of ways to make the experience complete - one, by purchasing a Big Boy bank, or two, by taking your picture with the life-size Big Boy near the front door.
Overall, it's a really nice place to stop for a bite to eat.
